To all,
Today, I received a Recall Notice from PCNA regarding a possible fire
hazard on all 2003 Turbos.
This hazard is due to a possible loose bolt that holds one of the pressure
hoses to the power steering unit.
As stated by PCNA , if the power steering fluid ( Pentosin) leaks , this could
cause a power steering failure and IF the fluid comes in contact with any part of the exhaust system...it could result in a fire.
They suggest I contact local dealer for inspection / retighten bolt with correct torque.
FYI Guys
p.s. This recall is being sent due to National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act requirements.

It is funny that you post this. I recently had my 03 in for installation of a CD changer.
The dealer returned the car to me and I read the invoice and it stated a recall was performed. The dealer did not tell me anything about this, I just saw it on the invoice.
Now I know what the actual recall was.

My July 2002 production model year 2002 Turbo had this happen - smoke from Pentosin power steering fluid pouring on hot exhaust, loss of power steering and clutch actuation . Same production month that ended '02 and started '03 production , but different model year and this recall applies only to model year 2003 . I wonder if late model year 2002 is affected also ?

It seems that my '03 VIN # is not covered by the recall either. The Porsche Campaign Notice specifies Turbos/GT2s built between July 24, 2002 and March 1, 2003 with certain VINs may need to be checked for the loose power steering fitting.
MKW: I guess you were just (un)lucky -- got a 2002 with the 2003 MY update at no extra charge.

Jack, I would still take at peak at your connection. Easy to find and reachable if you read the pdf file above. No need to remove the air box or intercooler hose when inspecting. Be sure it's not loose or oily there .

My 03 turbo was just recalled and it did not fall within the VIN's that were mentioned. Possibly the recall is going to include more cars

Anyone have a copy of the recall pdf. I have a 2003 GT2 and did not get one, my dealer says they did not check to see if it needed to be addressed while in for a couple things lately.

JCM,
The link for the .pdf file is above in dbelleperc's post.
Please have your car checked out before it catches fire like mine.
For more info on my 996TT fire, you can reference my original post on the subject at... http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/s...threadid=18858
And for an update on how Porsche has left me and my Turbo for dead at.... http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/s...threadid=20880.
