Because they are the “PORSCHE” recomended tire so they are popular. I’ve ran hankooks, now I run pirellis. I’m a fan of the pirellis hankooks are good but rears lasted 9k miles and done.
Try some Nitto NT-01s. They are what's possible. Falken makes a great tire as well.
agree. the two tire types i use ( now ) moving fwd are and will continue to be the rt651+ and nt01. the advantages of n4 rated michi's no longer justify the cost, given how many miles i get ( or don't ) out of any of them.
I just ended up getting Cup 2s earlier this year - hopefully by the time I need tires again, the 4S will be available in 18".
I will also be needing tires very soon. I actually called Michelin to see what was going to be available. They mentioned the 4s will only be available for the front set and will not fit the rear set

Yep, sounds about right. Thus my previous comment. I called them a while back when the Super Sports came out. That was a waste of time, much as you are seeing.
Anyone else here wish we could have gotten Pilot Super Sports and now the PS$S in stock sizes?
Just get Pilot Sports in 315/30 & 245/40, they fit OE and wider wheels. I think they're available, bought some for the rain a while back. If I drove regularly in wet/cold I'd consider Continental DWS if they come in sizing that works, they were great on an older BMW I ran them on.
A second set of wheels/tires is ideal if you can swing it, or at least a couple matching spare tires for when you have a problem. I've never needed ONE new tire at a convenient time and stores never have a match from what I've seen posted about frustrating tire searches for our cars.
I have a feeling im going to hit the lottery before this happens. Oh and I dont play the lottery
