TOYO R888R road use update
I have driven another 800 road miles since the last post.
The "new" Toyo R888R's continue to impress. The tire noise becomes less of an issue as the tread depth wears down. The cold handling is very, very good. Hot grip is exponentially better.
I have had them mounted now for almost two months. I feel confident in saying u can get two
summer seasons easily from them. Plenty of tread left so far even with track alignment.
I like them very much.

depends how much you drive and how you drive (including if you track them), if they will last 2 summers.
thanks for sharing.
I assume you have read the warning threads on these tires when used at track and they fail big time on a rear engine car like 911s.

two "summer seasons" on rear r888's?! what then is a "summer season"? i got about 3000 miles of growling road noise before they were done. i find it hard to imagine the "newer" iteration could be that much improved. but.. who knows. as long as RDS likes em, all that matters i suppose..
but as long as there are rt651k's and nt01's at a similar price point in 315/30/18? my tire "experimentation" days are over.

I think the consensus from the other thread was that they are safe on the street but when subjected to track duty they can be dangerous. If I had them on my car I would like to know about this. I am not trying to put down these tires or start a discussion about the failures. I had the first gen R888s on my 951 and but I prefer the NT01s as well. It is interesting to see so many new tires coming out, and most with good reviews.
