Default What's with RUF replica builds

I guess I'm not on the train, but I find it odd there are 'so many' RUF replica builds out there...

Maybe I'm just sour from other branded replica builds for Nissan, Honda, Toyota which are done so poorly it reminds me of those terrible builds...

Fill me in if I'm just the outlier, and I'm just missing the relevance as the cost on these builds seems to be quite extravagant relative to the benefit... of course all of this is in my opinion..

example is in the classified section now, and the seats look horrendous to me (quality of the new trim cover) the wrinkles just scream at me..

edit: out of respect i won't link or post picture of vehicle in question..

OP,

You are on the right train. Replica is just that; original body kit or not.

RUF is known for their engine mod work first and foremost. Everything else an outsider does is missing neon lights underneath.

That car has changed hands a couple times within the past 1-2 years. It's been WAY overpriced each time, but there's an *** for every seat.

IMO I wouldn't pay a premium for a shift ****, wheel, etc.

I’ve been kicking around the idea of doing a ruf build. I have the full interior and side mirrors, just need to do a front bumper. The reason to me is because ruf was always one of those cars that I lusted over when I was younger. I have all the badging but I doubt I’ll put them on honestly. I just always thought a ruf car was super cool. Now that I’m older and have a p-car, to me it’s like oem+ modifications I grew up doing. (I had a Audi A4, so all s4 parts fit for example)

The quality of work and attention to detail thst 911-al did with those cars wee amazing. The price was a bit on the higher side for me but... at the end of the day, he got his asking prices. I couldn’t ask that much for my car.

Is this that god-awful car that 911-AL was trying to convince everyone was worth 75k?

Edit: It is, looks like the new owner bolted on more gaudy ruf parts and now its worth less. At this pace I expect to see the car wrapped in a ruf livery for sale @ 40k in 6 months.

I think if you have an original car like a 996 Turbo R with the top IC inlets thats definitely cool and unique but aesthetically I prefer GT2 pieces, though I understand there is some aero improvement. Seems to me like they did much more interesting things with non-996 based cars.

God awful, really?
I'm not a fan of most clones but the one you reference was done well, identified as such and a great color combo. I would have happily paid asking if it had a fresh transmission, clutch, LWFW, LSD, UMW turbos/tune, big brakes, and was blk/tan. The time it takes to do any car up the way you want is huge. Just research alone, or spending time online when you should be working....wait

So you're saying a different car with better parts would be worth more?

I must say that I've watched this for sale a couple of times and every time I see it I really really like how the seats look in there.
