Question about techart wing?
I have a techart type 1 wing on my car. I went to have it repainted, and needless to say, the thing turned to crap. Are they hollow in the center or did I have a replica on the car. It doesn't have any part number designations anywhere.

What do you mean it turned to crap? Sounds like the shop's fault who painted it? Not the part.

I have a "Schnell" replica of the Techart 1 spoiler. It was half the price of the Techart 1. ($599 vs $1220)

I have considered painting it, but was worried about someone screwing it up... and it looks really cool in naked carbon fiber. It IS hollow, guaranteed. It weighs like 1-2 pounds.

The paint shop went to sand the paint down so it could be refinished and when they started the fiber glass began to splinter. It was in rough shape with a noticeable hairline crack along the front seam prior to them touching it.

Most A/M parts require work, some more than others. Most wings are also hollow. The shop should know better than to sand through the glass, but even so, fiberglass is easy to fix/repair 100%.

My question is that wing the same size or bigger? Wider end to end? That's a great price also.

That looks awesome. I would ditch my Cup wing for it.

Thanks for confirming that the wings are hollow. I put the factory wing on and it's just as solid as the rest of the car. It seemed off that something that sells for $2000 is hollow. Oh well. I ended up ordering that carbon snell wing. Thanks again for the help guys.

Yes most are hollow with reinforcements inside to give it more structure. My cup wing is hollow too.

Please please post pictures of it side by side with the stock wing if possible and after install. I really want to order this wing also, just want to see it from different angles and in the down/up position.

wing is wider and taller. edge on both sides dips close to taillight. Search for side scoop thread and you can see pics of my blue car with techart replicas...I believe schnell is the same one as the UK company sells. The shipped price from UK used to be cheaper than the linked site above. The replica does not have a dip at the center bottom so it will touch the lid at down position. You'll need a spacer for the 2 rams that lift the wing. Mine is fixed at fully extended position so it's not an issue.

Schnell wing
Pic of the wing:
It fits as a direct bolt-on, but doesn't come with the little screw-in metal pieces that mate with the rams. Those you can get from Rennkit, or re-use the ones from your stock spoiler. Rather than risk damage to my stock spoiler, I chose to purchase extras.
The pic here shows in the up position.. It's much larger than the stock blade, yet sits nicely in the down or up position. I removed the spoiler fuse to keep it in the up position. I have the 4" e-Rams from Rennkit that I plan to install at some point.
