I guess for some people, if the tires look good on the car, safety takes a back seat.

Its up to the DOT & manufacturer to decide if they are defective . Not some yahoo on the internet with no real data etc.

LOL...... wow.

Pretty sure the thread(s) linked showing multiple failures on hard track use are all the data needed.

You said in your other thread you will not be tracking your car. This use case does not apply to you. Most people who buy R-comp tires, are buying them for track use. You are not pushing these tires to their limits at all without tracking them, so you will probably not have problems. You are an outlier in the equation as the majority of people with these tires, buy them for track.

The DOT will not give a single **** about track tires or any other tires failing on track, and apparently Toyo doesn't either since they now void the warranty on these track tires which are taken on track.

A few un scientific evaluations from jokers running them at the track do NOT make it concrete!. Who knows what they hit or ran over.

Do u or any one else really think a major tire manufacturer or the DOT would allow this tire to be sold if it was PROVEN to blow apart or be unsafe ?

Really- seriously - think about that for a minute. There IS NO RECALL!!!!!!!!!.

wise of you to change that earlier post lol. god forbid you get "timed out" here .. and you will get youtube/rl banned particularly if you didn't vote for the communists lol. rl has "slow servers" and thats a good thing ha.

all kidding aside. r888's have been a dubious proposition for many of us that have tried them in the past. but yours are "new and improved"(?), and if you like 'em? all that matters.

If toyo says "do not use our new track tire R888R on the track, cause otherwise you lose warranty"... thats ridiculous. i would feel fooled big time.

I've had a set (3 of 4) of Toyo's delaminate while sitting in the shop... unless my dog ran them over with the truck at night when I was sleeping, they sure didn't have any impacts...lol
I'd love to have Toyo as an option, but they need to prove themselves, RA1 had a great rep which R888 completely blew out the window...
In the '300 club' you can't afford failures...

I think that's what keeps me interested in the Toyos and hoping they would get them sorted out, I loved the RA1s wish they still made them in the 335s. It was a great summer drive to the track tire, even good in the wet at fuller tread depths. 275/35/18 is they have now.

Read this very slowly.

The DOT and the manufacturer does not care what happens at the track.

The DOT has no regulations on what happens at the track.

The manufacturer is *clearly* not standing behind the tire for track use by voiding the warranty if it touches pavement on track.

Buying a DOT R-comp tire and using it for cars & coffee and going cruising is like going to a hooker for a hug.

I've been thinking of trying these and I sincerely appreciate that people tell how it is.

Just the fact that they say no warranty if used on track is pathetic. It's like a car manufacturer saying no warranty if you drive your car on the road...basically as stupid.

No Toyo for me and I will let all my friends know about this.
