Default GT3 RSR headlight project build completed with pics.

My 996 GT3 RSR headlight project is progressing nicely .
One design criteria was to have 2 HID projectors per headlight.
Similar to the H&R 996 turbo race car.

Evan @ Vision Auto Labs just completed the swap out of the H3 oem fog lamp to the Morimoto 3000k yellow HID projector.

Very custom, very trick. The end is near,

The H&R 996 TT race car was our inspiration.

Did you undertake this project because you felt the OEM headlights were not providing enough light?

Many factors caused me to undertake this project:
glazed, cloudy oem lenses, weak fog lamps, unhappy with the chrome silver interior housing, dumb chrome pop up washer bezel that gets blown off at highway speed. etc.

attached are two pics of the oem H3 fog lamp 1st. Then the 3000k HID Morimoto projector.
Its a no brainer-right?

I don't have any issues with my 996 Turbo's OEM fog light brightness. On those occasions where using the fog lights is appropriate, they perform just fine.

Just look at the difference in output in the two comparisons pics above. H3 oem bulb & lens vs. 3000k HID projector lamp.

I did not even know our fogs were capable of that 1st pic output. Whenever i turn them on at night, i dont even see a difference!

I see you were from Boston, but now in NJ, if you ever take ur car back up to BOS, please let me know. i would love to see the finish work in person!

Definitely something on my to-do list. Evan's work seems to be meticulous!

What are the weather conditions on the roads when you're turing them on? The fog lights are meant to be used in...well...fog, with your main headlights in low beam.

Default GT3 RSR headlight project build complete

Project is finally done! Now the wait from San Diego to NJ via FedEx.

Project build recap for those interested:
2001 oem aging lenses with old cracked wiring etc. Needed a rebuild so we purchased new factory light weight lexan GT3 RSR lenses, upgraded boosted Hella ballast, added (2) new HID projectors with crystal lenses per headlight housing(replaced factory H3 fog projector with 3000k projector), LED turn signal bulbs, pop-up washer system delete & finally full satin black interior housings.

Ill post pics once they are installed.

They look fantastic. I would like to see some pics with the turn signal on in light and dark if you have time to snap the pics.

Looks nice! How did you guys manage to seal the RSR lens to the TT housing as the two are not identical? Also, it appears that the screw hole is still in the lens and has not been plugged. It's a safe bet that unless the lens is sealed to the headlight housing you will have horrible condensation issues especially after a rain or when the car is washed. Even in high ambient humidity the inside of the lens will fog and then stain when it dries. Just curious as condensation could become a huge headache...
