I would be very hesitant removing a key safety item like the airbag from a street driven car. It's akin to removing the seat belts. Check with your insurance company but you may have huge liability and/or coverage issues in case of a serious accident. I'd be very very careful here. I don't have an airbag either but my car only sees less than 100 miles of street use per year so it's a small calculated risk.

As powdrhound said, I wouldn't do this, think of safety. I also like the stock steering wheel, looks and feel. Sure it could be a tiny bit thicker but overall it is a great wheel.

That MOMO does look great though.

RD,
if you check with your insurance company about running around without an air bag, let us know what they say.

OEM airbag wheel was replaced about 8 mos. ago with a true paddle shift conversion kit from Works Bell.

Ins. is fine . Car is a pleasure vehicle only. less than 1k miles per yr.

I will be just switching out the MOMO Jet 320 mm wheel for the MOMO racing line wheel with leather Porsche crest horn button.

Im not going to notify them & tell them about it. Insurance stays the same (insured as a pleasure vehicle) always has, always will.

So you checked with your insurance company and they said there would be no increase in premiums if the car is operated without a steering wheel airbag? I ask only because of your post stating that you were not going to notify them about it.

He lives in NJ, if he tells them either his insurance will go to $8,000 a year on that car or they will drop him and probably black list him.

Hey, you'll probably be just fine. Unless you have an accident. If you do, you will likely get zero compensation from your insurance company and blacklisted. Insurance companies are all about denying claims.

But to your original post - I've bought stuff from Manuel as well. His work is superb and he's great to work with.
