Im running stock pressures on the street. 36 front 42 rear (cold). On the track I usually end up bleedingbthem about 6-10 psi and the pressures stabilize. They seem to be right at the rollover indicator with those pressures and the grip feels good so I havent lowered them any further than that. I usually target within 2 psi or so of cold pressures once hot. I would ve interested to see if anyone has an argument and or experience to lower them more if it worked out well.

Happy to see the AD08R's back in stock. Chatted a bit with tire rack. the new A052 is really being marketed as a track and competition specific tire, which can be driven on the street. - where as the AD08R's are a dual use street / track tire. little less wear and grip, but i have to say, they are DAMN grippy... big fan.

Bumping this thread, any additional feedback on these?

Just about to order a set of these for my new Apex wheels. Price has also dropped, under $1,000 a set picked up at my local warehouse..

I ran these all year. Great grip. Far superior to the AD08R it "Replaces". The AD08R wear incredibly well, but do not have the grip these do. They do wear quite quickly, and I think this may be a reason for the price drop to keep them competitive. They talk to you at the limit and have great turn in feel. In my experience they are also liveable on the street. Not much wet weather experience with them however. These were good for almost a 1 second decrease in lap times on a 40 ish second AutoX course. They also hold heat very well and dont get greasy unless you are really pushing them hard on a 25-30 min DE session. At 1k, they are a no brainier on our car for the limited stock tire sizes we have. Just dont believe the "200" treadwear rating. By comparison, the AD08R should have had a 300+ not a 180 like they had. Basically if you are street, get the AD08R for great grip and longevity, get the AD052 if you are planning on tracking and want an alternative to the expensive CUP2s.

Enjoy

Would you say the 052 wear as fast as a typical R compound like the NT01?

Ive never driven the NT01, heard great things. From what I hear they are somewhat similar. The AD052s come new at 6/32nds. They look like they are a year old tire before you even put them on lol. I can liken them to RE71Rs if that helps on the wear.

Mine will be mostly for fast street with occasional track days, and I hate changing out to track tires. I don't mind a bit of reduced longevity, especially on semi-reasonable priced tires. I was more concerned with them being a potential handful in some "street" conditions, like colder weather or the rain. I don't expect them to be great in either of those conditions, but it doesn't sound like they are terrifying either...

Also, it doesn't look like the AD08R is currently available in the 315/30-18, only the 295/30-18, which makes the decision to go with the A052 even easier.

Many wish that something like the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S was available in 245/40-18 & 315/20-18 (or other 996 Turbo friendly) sizes, but even if it was, it would be significantly more $$ for a set, so as long as the AD052 isn't ridiculously short lived, some that extra wear is baked into the price as you speculated.

The only other tire combos readily available from TireRack in 245/40-18 & 315/20-18 is the AZENIS RT615K+. Also a 200 treadwear tire (but perhaps more of a true 200 treadwear?), but again, more expensive. and likely not nearly the grip?

I certainly wouldnt run them much colder than about 50 degrees for sure. I had them out the last day I was running the car with some buddies, and they did ok but all the grip was certainly not there. If I were street with some limited track use I wouldnt even bother going with the larger sizes unless you have non stock wheels that dictate that. I agree, I wish we had the ability to run PS4S. That would be my tire of choice. That said I have grown accustomed to the increased grip from these and its quite nice. They even heat up rather quickly for AutoX within a couple runs. They are not like most DE/track tires that you have to get a lot of heat in to work. They have good grip when not up to operating temp, which is great for my uses as a AutoX/Street/intermediate DE tire.

AD08R is still my favorite street tire, much better than the PS2 in grip and wear in my experience with any kind of track AutoX use. I think the PS2 couldnt handle the temps and wore very quickly. The only downside would potentially be more noise than say a PS2, but with my exhaust I didnt really hear any difference.

Moral of the story, the AD052 is a great tire. I doubt you would be disappointed with it as long as you are ok with the high wear.

Last day out with some slow cars......

i've run just about every 315/30/18 tire available. i'm not limited to matching as i'm rwd. that said, i've never found a better tire than the falken rt615k+ relative to grip. wear, and price. though i do run michi 235/40 up front. from the pics of tread pattern alone, i'm certain i'd be replacing rears 3x a year, instead of my usual 2 sets a year if i ran that ad502. just look at them lol.

Sadly enough, theses tires arent available in the EU in 315/30ZR18. Even if they were, no TT driver would be allowed to use them cause of the 300km/h restriction.

Ah nice, I would love to convert to RWD someday. Ive heard good things about the Falkens. Ive done 9 AutoX events and 2 track events this year. One being Indy, which is known to wear tires quite quickly. When I got the AD052 and saw the tread I had that same feeling. Holding up pretty good, but yes its no 300 tw tire, or even 200 for that matter.

agree.. and only to add that once i tried the falkens ( the rt615 ) i havent found any reason to go back to michi/or p zeros which were my usual "go to" choices ( hated r888 & NT01's.. but that's just a personal choice ). plus the rt615k+ is an improvement over the initially introduced tire. they really are "that" good. i think i actually managed to wring out approx 7500 street/canyon miles on my last set of rears. a new "record" for me lol. cheers.

I've run a ton of sets of Rt615k+, great tire but could use better turn-in stability/feel and they work damn good in the cold too, fall off at track but no chunking or heavy greasiness... Get more mileage out of them than anything I've run so far. If the a052 perform better and last somewhat close to the rt615k+ I'll be very happy.
