Default Engine compartment fan

I received the well known engine compartment fan failure and am looking to troubleshoot and fix

The first place I started was the fuse box, for my 996 GT3 the manual says C5 is the "optional" engine fan fuse, and there is no fuse there.

From here my next step is to test the fan with 12V across the terminals

Assuming that works, what would you do next? I want to reserve removing a seat (I am prolly to big to fit past it), squirming past the bar and tearing up the rear of the car to get at the extra (thanks Porsche) fuse box.

Any suggestions from folks who have had this issue and solved it before?
