Track Tires for 996 GT3?
It's been two years since I tracked my GT3, and I am now looking for the "latest and greatest R-Comp track tires" for my dedicated track car.
I used to run the following:
1) MPSC "1s". Great for low track times, but only got 6 days out of them before needing to replace all 4 tires.
2) Nitto NT-01s. They were about 2 seconds slower than MPSC 1s, but I could get 10-12 track days out of them as they are multidirectional and can be "pancaked" on the wheel.
I'd like to have a "speed" set of tires (time trials) and an "economical track" set of tires (standard track days). What should I look at?
Of note, I just picked up some MPSC "2s" and ran my first track day earlier this week. Very smooth tire! How many days are you guys getting out of them prior to heat cycling or cording?
Thanks guys!
Best,
-Blake

I have to add my love of the MPSC 2's. They are wearing incredibly well and that after beating on them for a few days you can drive back home is a huge plus. I do rotate the wheels/tires side-to-side between days to ensure even wear on all the tires.

I've got a set of low mile (<500 miles) MPSC2's on Fikse rims. They were heat treated at full tread depth at Tire Rack. Stored in climate controlled garage when not on vehicle. PM me if interested.

I expected 5 days like old Cups. Clean surface- no pick up- Getting twice what I expected. Completely different tire. I didn't need to buy new set yet as expected. Going back to track Sunday after 2 days with Ferrari Lime Rock. Shocked
