Default R & T missed the boat -

http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cult...e-collectible/

This article describes how a 996 will not be a collectible. I think the author missed the boat big time regarding the 996 GT cars. The 2005 Turbo S is very rare, the GT2 as well, the GT3 is an excellent drivers car as we all know and produced in much lower numbers than the 997. Maybe we should all write the author a note stating how rare the 996 GT cars are and how special the GT2 and the GT3 is.

He called out the GT3 and Tubro as the exception to the rest of the article. Yeah he missed the GT2 but I'd bet he lumped it in with the turbo segment.

Otherwise I think he's spot on

agree with you and the article but the paragraph on the Turbo and the GT3 was very weak. The title is horrible too as the titles lumps in some some very rare cars.

I usually enjoy what R&T puts out but I didn't have much time for this hate piece from the author. He might be right that the 996 Carrera won't be a future collectible but his comments on reliability and more so styling came across as uninformed and it's obvious that he is catering to the mainstream with his opinions.

FWIW...The author is a Porsche owner (993) and fond of the brand. He likes to write pieces that drive spirited conversation. Had he just put the word Carrera in the title and not a general blanket statement about the 996 series in total we'd all be right there with him I think.

R&T is getting skinnier with each issue. Print media is a dying breed.

I breeezed through the article.
His scribes pretty much align with my perceptions.

People thought the 964 was ugly too 30 years ago.

993 owner...now it all makes sense. They're still having trouble coming to terms with the fact that 911's pump water now days...20 years after the fact I might add

Buy and drive what YOU like. Why care what anybody else says? This guy sells his spit for a living. Why do you give a sheet?
