Congrats on the purchase. What did you end up getting it for?

 

I have had my GT3 since new and just picked up a new GT4 in December. Waiting for the northeast track season to begin and get some break in miles on the 4, but am looking forward to having two different cars to play with. I think both cars with limited mods should be fairly close time wise on comparable tracks. Will report back later this summer.

thanks for the words of encouragement. i ended up paying $52k for it which i thought was a good deal on a car with no hidden stories. i've never been one to much care about mileage anyway, as long as the car overall is up to my liking. my 964 has 165k miles and i love it more and more with each mile i put on it. i have a dedicated track 911 so still debating whether to track this one. but i'll definitely drive it. who am i kidding, one track day won't hurt it, right??????? ;-)

Is anyone familiar with this vin? Car is listed on autotrader by what appears to be a private seller (has been for at least 6 months) and now on ebay by a dealer for $4k more. I assume the PO hasn't taken the listing down. I love the spec, but the price is unrealistic, IMO. To me this should be priced closer to $60-65k to warrant serious consideration. Driver mileage, track oriented modifications (both positive for me) but a replacement motor and mileage discrepancies between the two ads.

No track miles, but seems its setup for the track? Harnesses / wood block? Replacement engine before 60K miles? Something doesn't sound right.

Not that track time should really matter with these things but at least be honest in the advertisement.

 

Right, clearly the car has been used for track. Lot's of questions/red flags around this one.

Autotrader ad says 45k on replacement. I wonder if it was a zero mile replacement motor some time back or if the replacement motor was used and swapped in recently. If the motor has 45k on it since being put into this example, that is much preferable than the later, IMO.

 

Hey guys...mine's for sale now. 38k miles, mostly stock, collector quality.

Never really been on track...well maybe just a time or two (per month) but driven by an aging fat guy at just above beginner level driving ability. I mostly run Green group so I can win at DE but again no real track time it's just that one DE trophy that will go with the car. I have concourse trophy I won at a regional car show which had nothing to do with a popularity contest vs. actual car condition. I'd like to keep that trophy though but will include at an extra cost.

$120k since it's collector quality and best of the best and never raced. Yellow is also the most produced but fastest so it's way more desirable than the rest. This is an actual fact i was told by a guy in Germany once.

 

Red one seems well priced, although it also seems there could be some deferred maintenance surprises for a new owner since current owner is apparently unwilling/unable to address things like brake pads before listing for sale.

LOL on the wood block for the accelerator. Yeah, no track work for that car!

I'm thinking it's not such a good deal, since the cylinder heads (primarily valve guides) probably need to be refreshed.
