Default 996 GT3 Stereo aux

Does anyone have any experience of adding an aux input to their GT3 stereo? Let's face it, CD's have had their day and radio gets pretty tiresome.

Porsche quoted me £560 for the part including fitting, which seemed aggressive. Part no. 000 044 901 70

Just get a bluetooth radio transponder. That is what i use and you can listen to any music on your phone through the std radio.

The speakers in mine are so bad anyway it's hardly worth it, even with upgrading to the OEM Bose dash and rear speakers it's still pretty poor. I swapped out the head unit for a bluetooth one but with the exhaust and everything else it's just really rhythmic noise...

Becker does it: http://beckerautosound.com/porsche-p...24-aux/2865219

I believe it takes a few weeks to get the radio back. I was going to do it but never got around to actually sending them my head-unit.

The dealer is trying to steal money from you...Becker charges like $50 or something (don't know about the shipping cost from the UK though)

Mine has a radio. I even turned it on once. It's loud enough in the car it's sorta useless and anything over a 30 minute drive and I'm wearing active noise-cancelling earbuds.

Just be aware that they are only giving you a mono connection. What you get isn't stereo. I found out the hard way. Yeah, yeah, yeah, the speakers suck, but you can still hear the difference between mono and stereo.

I'm planning on finding a low-key looking aftermarket headunit to replace stock for the above reasons, and will replace the stock speaker with aftermarket...should be a good improvement. Nice to have some quality sounding tunes on roadtrips and such...

Wow...good to know (and no I didn't know that). That's ridiculous. Might as well spend $100 on a halfway decent headunit then

Look into Dension http://www.dension.com/automotive
this is what we put in our GT3 for long trips to connect to the iPhone. I need to change the cable since it's the "old" style connector...or go bluetooth. Just haven't taken the time...

It is really an easy fix. There are so many options and these Bluetooth FM transmitters work great. Around $15.

Chet,
Thanks for including link. I've been meaning to order this since I saw it in your car.
And we need to get CAE shifters as well! Looks fantastic Peter.
Great Christmas gifts ideas!

100% - and spare a thought for me as I have a Cassette Radio in mine. Thought about getting the BOSE upgrade, then I realized I am better off with a set of BOSE headphones for the long trips to the Ring...
