I'll know better when track season starts - Last year was the first time it happened to me in 9 years with this car. I have old springs downstairs. Will post photo later. I requested my shop change. If nothing else - piece of mind.
Thanks for the feedback. I've had the car for 12 years, 36k on the odometer and never had a problem. Car has been off track for 5 years, but recently serviced before this track weekend.

UPDATED. seems answer is " No then oil pressure would be low consistently ". . When I was chasing this I changed the springs and pistons.
Well that's good to know about the low oil pressure not necessarily being related to bearing wear.
So your low pressure indication after coming off the track was the result of a worn spring or piston? Is that the pump upgrade kit I've read about on Rennlist (near the Bottom of the thread)? (Is that what pops out when you change the oil? (even though I've been a GT3 DIY'er for 50k miles, I don't know squat ) Thanks, this is all good to know. You don't want to replace those $1500 pumps unnecessarily.

It would be good to know if you switch back to the lower (standard) viscosity oil and the problem on the track does not reoccur
.

believe referred to as pressure limiting value - can stick if any debris in cyclinder
The parts were inexpensive. I think 2 or 3 on GT3

I found 2 sets
-The one depicted above on the Bottom of the Right case (which gofishracing replaced)
-One on the Side of the Left Case (I wonder if it is accessible?)

My outdated fiche shows that the pistons have the same part number but the springs are different

yes- That's it. We did both I believe. One is also on the scavenger pump I think. My Chief engineer friend from Mercedes directed me to change it. Dealer had never heard of them failing etc. I asked HRD to change them.

Bringing this old thread to the top as my 996 GT3 (cup) is doing the opposite of what most have experienced...my oil gauge is reading high (above 5 bar at all times). Motec data to back it up is saying 11 bar! Check engine light also. Has anyone else had this issue? I am thinking possibly faulty sender or stuck pressure relief valve (I hope it’s one of the two)...

I'm having breakfast with a Porsche shop owner this AM. Let me see if I can inquire casually.
