Steve & Sloth,
Thanks for the GREAT picture.
Is there a option code for this?
I do like the set up very much.
Much nicer than the standard console.
You're going to have a great car.
can't wait until you post a few pic's of it next year.

thanks again..
Sean

I am not familiar with the option code as it is not available in the US as a factory option. I thought it was standard on Euro spec cars.

There is no console delete option for North American GT3 (or GT2) models. However, on the ROW models, the console is deleted as standard but one can order option M581 for the front console as is standard on our cars.

you can buy the little part you need as a cover and take the console out yourself. Josh "pink mink" Ofstein did it in the seal gt2 he bought from me and it looks fine.

viken,
do you know of a felt kit or anything lighter than the existing gt2/gt3 carpets? and is there an RS style door panel interior available that fits gt2/gt3?

sloth: You're welcome but I didn't realize that was your car. I googled for GT3 Console Delete and found the image I linked to on e-partssales.com. At least one other site has the same image, just smaller, so your car is famous.

No worries at all Steve. I saw the photo at Suncoast parts sales a while ago and I am pleased to see that the photo is being used as most folks do not know what the console is or looks like. My C2's fifteen minutes of fame...

To my knowledge, the GT2/3 carpeting is already different from other 996 variants. However, I am not sure if the carpet itself is thinner or there is less of it. As to the door panels, the answer is no.

The carpets are supposedly thinner and saves 6.5 lbs over standard carpet. There is just as much carpet in the GT3 as a regular 996.
