If you are looking for a car to also take the wife on trips, a 996 GT3 is not it. My gf, and daughter hates riding in my car too. Stereo is absolute crap too
I barely drive it on the street my self. Can't even bring coffee in it when I take it to coffee and cars, spills it everywhere.

The 6-3 is a blast to drive, fast and responsive. With right alignment, easy to slide and correct. No electronic nannies.

So for occasional DE and trips with wife, go for a 997.2 GTS.
For self indulgence and DE, the 6-3
FYI. once you start down the DE route, you are hooked and will end up w a track car...........

Stock 6.3 is not to bad on the street. Not to bad on track either.

They really shine on track after some nice upgrades. The better the car is setup for track the less time you'll spend driving on the road.

I might point out that only a few others across the globe are likely to be riding in the same car at the same time. Perhaps nobody given the low production.

If you want cushy, I suggest a 90's Roadmaster Estate Wagon.

My wife has (happily) been along for a road trip to Tampa (3+ hours each way). No complaints. She actually got cranky when I suggested we drive the C2 with it's uber-comfy Recaros instead.

We have to go back over in a few weeks to oversee an episode of Two Guys Garage and she is already lobbying for the GT3.

Yeah, it is bouncy when you run over anything larger than an ant and loud, but it is Supposed to be the German version of the General Lee so I'm all good with that. I use a Tervis to hold the coffee and have gotten very good at taking quick, no splash sips between bumps.

My wife and I have driven from Chicago to Barbour and back in Euro seats. They're fine on the street outside of broken roads. Agree with the assessments the more track mods the further from ideal street use. These cars support both uses better than most.

I was infinitely more comfortable in the euro buckets than the oem folding seats. I'm only 6' and couldn't fit in the car with a helmet though!

I am in total agreement with tgavem. The car is loud, stiff, bumpy and the chin spoiler will get knocked off during normal street driving. The significant other is either lying or a saint about the comfort of a 6GT3. My wife hated the car when I used to drive it on the road. On the other hand, the 6TT is a very comfortable GT car which my wife really liked -- that is a daily driver, but not a 6GT3 besides a car enthusiast.

And the engine doesn't come alive until 5k+ rpm...it scream from 5500-8k but city driving 3-4K the car hates it.

Hmmm...you guys married/are dating the wrong ladies. My wife drives our 6-3 daily to work, and its just a given that we drive it anywhere that we're not picking up tons of stuff at the store...though it has been know to be packed with a bit more than it should on occasion...
It's been back and forth to the Northeast dozens of times, down to Daytona at least 4 for the Rolex 24, all across the Southeast...everywhere we go.
We've owned it 5 years and have put 70k miles on it. Less this past year since we both started working from home more often...plus I've recently heard some sort of popping sound in the brakes & suspension I'm investigating this weekend. Hasn't stopped her/us from driving it (she has it at work today)...

Joe, as we discussed on the phone, you are welcome to come by anytime and try it out, see what you and your wife thinks...maybe she can talk to my wife

I'm with you Bob...we don't drive ours as much on the street as you but we still enjoy a good amount of street time. While it's not my wife's favorite car, she does enjoy driving the GT3 even with 900lb springs in my car. Honestly if she didn't need to sit on a pillow to see over the dash with the euro seats in the car she'd probably drive it quite a bit more even.

Joe - any luck with the car search? I'd say the sticky thread at the top of the page is the best place to start with info about these cars.
