Default Gt3 DME over-rev report

Hi guys,
I am planning to purchase an 04 gt3. Here are a couple issues that are a bit worrisome. First, car fax shows 7 owners. Second, it has over-rev report in range 1 and 2. Should I be worried?

7 owners doens't mean the car has a problem but it's a bit more than usual.
Fase 1 / 2 over revs is nothing to worry about.

996 only has Range 1 and 2.

2's could be very bad since it's not broken down into more specific rev ranges in the 996.

How many hours on the motor? how many hours when the type 2's happened? If they are relatively recent I'd personally be afraid. If they were a couple hundred hours ago they are much less likely to be an issue.

I wouldn't worry too much about the type 1. Since this is what the rev limiter design for. Type 2 depend on when it happen. As mentioned above if it happen recently you should be careful.

How many type 2? What was the hour count then (and now)? As noted, Type 2 are mechanical overrevs and could be bad. But if it was only 7 that happened 100 hours ago, might be nothing.

That is what I thought. I used to have 08 gt2 and it had range 1-6 but 996 had only range 1 and 2.
The details of the DME report is not very clear. I will contact the owner to see if he has the details.

As others have mentioned the 996 GT3 only has range 1 and 2. Range 1 is 8200-8800 RPM. Range 2 is 8800 RPM and up.

How many ignition pulses does it show in range 2?

I would not be so concerned about many previous owners. many people bought these when they were first available, drove them on the street, and realized that they were not really great street cars, and unloaded them after a few miles. My car had 3 owners who put less than 3k miles on it all together.
Type 1 overruns are meaningless, as the rev limiter stops any potential damage. Old Type 2s are also no big deal if a few hundred hours ago, as Andy said.
