"widowmaker" for the 996 GT2 only or others?
now and then I read some magazine article where a 993 or 997 GT2 is also called "widowmaker" to my best knowledge isn't the 996 GT2 the original car to be called this? the 993 has less power so less dangerous the 997 had electronic nannys, the rightful owner of this term should be the 996 GT2 imho am I wrong?

any quick car in the wrong hands is a 'windowmaker', 6GT2 platform is very driveable and a driver's car like any 911.
My dad had a CAN/Euro spec '84 930 that I put lots of 'hard' miles on, you had to drive through weight transfer far more then the modern cars, such as 6GT2, but still if you drove what you saw and felt then you would be fine.
On a fun'er note, let's watch CH slide a 6GT2

I remember going to a trackday at my local circuit, Castle Combe in the UK. It's a great driver's track and very fast. At the time I had a Nissan Skyline GTR R32 that had been modded a bit to produce 450bhp.
I went out with Tiff Needell in a 993 GT2 and it was very hard work for him. He's a great driver but it took all his effort to get the GT2 round quickly and it was very hairy. I timed him and then went out in my GTR. With very little effort I was about 2secs a lap faster with no hairy bits. It wasn't that I'm a great driver but the GTR was just very clever and very safe.
The GT2 was definitely a widowmaker imo
I've now returned to the fold with a 996 (I'm very poor) and do realise it's not all about lap times....

I don't know if he was trying or not but he was certainly having a really hard time with the car. He was sawing at the wheel trying to keep it under control. Perhaps he was showboating to impress me I don't know or perhaps the car had setup issues.
All I can say was that I was 2 secs a lap faster.

Id be excited to see a redux of the slightly newer cars go head to head:
996 tt vs. R33 GTR..then its at least even on the awd front...weight penalty for the nissan, but bolt-ons could overcome
Then again, im a fan of the underdogs...i love both the 996 and r33, the least favored versions of both cars, lol
