I had a set rebuilt a few years ago to match 600/800 springs. Slight delay. Guy who did the rebuilds had retired. They found someone new. My understanding was that there there was only one or two guys who actually did this on OEM. Cost more to take the shocks off and ship them than the rebuild cost. That might explain a bit.

But I am sure that the better shock builders like Olsen Motorsports can easily do the OEM rebuilds. Match the shocks to the springs. Its definitely cheaper. then adjustable, but would guess not as cheap as Bilstein was doing. 5 years later they were a bit beat and I opted for a rebuilt set of JRZ's. Worthy upgrade.

I questioned the timing and was informed this was an outstanding policy that they are now enforcing (likely) due to asset allocation issues.

References for rebuilder shock tuners for stock 996 GT3 Dampers would be welcome. I did not really want to go aftermarket at this point.

Cheers!
