Need collective wisdom
I need help (wisdom) from GT3 owners. I currently own a 2004 GT3 with about 35k mi. I have owned the car for about 5 years. Purchased from second owner with about 17k mi. I had 2 PPIs performed before I purchased, one which stated the car may have been tracked and the other PPI (Porsche dealer in Orlando) said he didn't think so. The previous owner said no track time by him or first owner. I have not tracked the car either. There was one over rev but no body damage.
The car has been great, no problems except LSD which is being replaced soon. All services up to date.
The car has many options. It is typical silver, CCBs, white dials, matching painted seat backs and console, CF shift **** and e-brake handle and yellow colored seat belts. Have not re-sprayed the front which has typical rock chips.
Ok, so why all this info? I'm getting an itch to sell/trade for a manual 2011-12 Boxster Spyder. Has anyone out there owned these two cars or have experience with them that can give an objective comparison? Also, what do you think I could realistically sell my car for? I know that's sort of a moving target as the prices on these have been climbing of late. My mechanic thinks I ought not to sell (he thinks these GT3 are going nowhere but up in value). Will I regret selling? I can't keep both as wife says two useless cars are enough.
Sorry for the long post. Thanks for any help

i have owned both cars. I bought a Boxster Spyder after a long and unsuccessful search for a GT3. I loved the Spyder, but it is loud, really loud inside. Its fine when you driving on canyon roads, but in traffic or on the freeway the sound from other vehicles is just unpleasant. As it happens a GT3 with 16k miles came up for sale about 3 years ago and I traded the Spyder for the GT3. First, I must say that I am not really a convertible guy and the Spyder is the one and only convertible I have owned. I do go to the track on occasion and you do have to remove the top at track speeds on the Spyder and I was never comfortable with the debris that would zip by my face. I love the GT3! It is a much better daily car in my opinion and on the track there is no comparison. I do like having a roof over my head. While the Spyder is a great drivers car, the GT3 is magic. There is just nothing like it. I have not thought twice about my decision to trade and would do it again in a second.

You will regret selling the GT3 for a Spyder. If you can get both, you're in good shape, but please don't sell the 6-3. It's the best car among 30 or so I've owned from within the P-car family. Truly special cars!

Well, this was the type of info I was looking for. Thanks to Chris and alphuez for the quick replies. I already passed on a 550 maranello for the gt3 because of the fun factor.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Not tried a Spyder but i do have a Boxster 3.4
They are nice all round car and my wife loves it .
Makes a great addition to the GT3 and are cheap .
Dont sell the GT3 and buy a Boxster for your missus !

Box sterns are great cars, but they are not in the same realm as a GT3. They are two entirely different experiences. I would not consider trading my GT3 for any Boxster, even in Spyder trim.

I also live in central Florida, please join us for an Auto x or track day. I can see why you are thinking about selling your 6.3 if you only street drive it in this part of the world.

I hada SP996 race car, a SPB (Boxster) race car and now a '04 GT3.... both race cars were a significant different platform to drive. The GT3 gives me all the "race feel" I could ever want on a street legal car... I think you would be very disappointed selling the GT3 for a Boxster...unless you love convertibles

GT3s are definitely a rarer breed than the other P-cars, and the number of ours (pre-nanny-matics) that remain street legal dwindles every year, so for that reason alone it makes sense to consider keeping it.
