Do you UK lads drive your cars over to the ring from the mother land or trailer?

Most people drive over...it takes about 6/7 hours from London including a train crossing under the English Channel.

Here is an old clip of a 8.20 lap in a 996 GT3 RS with a passenger....I expect to be about 10/15 seconds quicker now...

Aiming to be at DN13 in Sep/Oct!

It's what makes these cars so amazing. You can do lap after lap after lap of the Ring, pack all your stuff up, then do 140mph up the autobahn followed by a steady 'cruise' through Belgium and France and be in London before 11pm.

From Finland it's 27 hours in a ferry (helsinki-travemunde) and then 550 km to Adenau. And of course the ferry costs a small fortune..

I think it was back in 2008... I was up in Kettering on Saturday afternoon in my BMW Z4MC working on one of the race cars. Then a mate casually mentioned that the Ring was open on Sunday and that the weather was looking very good. Within 10mins tools were downed, drove home to Greenwich in London, picked up a helmet and my Jahreskarte and my mate was booking Eurotunnel as we sped towards Folkestone. Cutting the long story short - we got there by 3am, slept until 8:00am, did 25laps that day, and was home by 00:00am. The new at the time (I bought her at launch) Z4MC did not miss a beat either... Will be going there in late August with the GT3 - it needs a service and who else but Manthey to do it...

I've done the same with Spa, Belgium. Decide on Tue 3pm that the weather in Belgium is rather fine and there is a trackday scheduled....leave office early, book track and trains on my train home, pick up the GT3, speed down to Spa, arrive by 11pm, sleep, drive all day around the circuit...leave at 6pm, home by 11pm, back at work desk on Thursday morning...

...they don't skip a beat!

@Dervish: why would you only drive 140mph on the Autobahn? Your car can do more!
