Default GT3 DIY Oil Change...

It looks pretty simple, but how do you remove all the oil from the dry sump system?

Is there not a drain plug, like in the 993?

Yes there's a drain plug that's easily reached and the filter sits atop of the engine - no problem there.

My question, how is the oil that sits in the pipes, engine, coolers and the rest of the system removed, as simply removing the drain plug will only empy the oil tank?

My guess is that it isn't removed. In a 993 there are still several quarts that are left in the car. Short of removing all the lines and coolers there isn't another option.

As Loren's DIY shows, there are two oil drain plugs, one in the engine case and one in the bottom of the oil tank. Draining from these two points should empty all of the oil. Unlike the air-cooled cars, there aren't a bunch of coolers and oil lines on the GT3. Note that the DIY says to drain for 20 minutes and to remove the oil filter last (this will typically release some additional oil to drain). I have a big pan that I can sit under the case drain plug and the tank drain plug at the same time, so I can run them at the same time. Otherwise, it would take an hour to do an oil change.

So's there is just one filter? Hope so as changing the oil and TWO filters on my old 993 was a major PITA!! I swear they made it almost impossible for the owner to do it himself, and I'm sure the dealer wouldn't have been as careful as I was removing all the necessary panels, etc to gain access!

There's only 1 filter and it sits on top of the engine, just to the left of the MAF. It's very easy to get to.

Default Does this DIY include 03' C2 Carreras??

And should there be a worry about getting air in the system. I've heard conflicting stories about air getting into a dry sump sysmtem.
