I love how the 997.1 jumps around and I've got to catch it. Correct for it. Just a hell of a car to drive. 997.2, sold. To easy to drive compared to the .1.

That said, the 996 cars, especially the RS is the best GT3 I've druven. Just so raw and unforgiving.

Agreed! The only other GT3 I've driven was a 997.2, and it left me cold. Sort of numb, like I couldn't connect with the car. The 6-3 is a totally different experience. I am so connected, like I'm a piece of the car... Get it right and it's the most rewarding experience; get it wrong and it barks. Fulfilling :-)

today i think 991 GT3 is the best and most involving of all GT3/RS. YMMV.
never thought I'd read this from Mooty

never did i either. but i would suggest drivers shut up and drive it. it's a very very fast car. and you need to be going fast to see why this car is what it is. most of the pro's and fast track drivers i spoke to are chaning to 991. i had a private track day last sundsy, 3 long time 997drivers, drove 991, monday all called me "help me sell my car. i just bought a 991"...

it's quite something else.

BUT it has some problems. you have go fast to understand why it's mORE involving. at street speed, i can see the criticism.

That makes sense to me mate.... I like the way they look, they look incredible, they're nice inside too! Yet to drive one though and it seems like a more compliant street car but at $350,000 AUD I am not going to be going near one for a while unfortunately, it makes more sense to put my money in sydney real estate right now.

Because my net worth isn't THAT high that I can laugh off the depreciation.....not yet anyway.

I stapled my mouth shut, even put some sutures in. Then I drove it around the Hockenheimring and in the suburbs of Munich.

Still not a fan. It's not for everyone, it may be for most, but not for everyone.

Röhrl said the 991GT3 doesn't say much about the driver, but says a lot about the car. I think it was an American motor magazine, the interview.

I got to experience one at the track and was also really impressed. I can be a purist all I want and turn up my nose at PDK for the principal of it but the new car is pretty darn impressive.

Alas....I own the only one I can afford to track. The more and more values keep going up the harder it is for me to justify continuing to track it.

I've only driven the 1.3 on the street. Amazing car, would love to track one. On the road it felt very similar to the 458 to me. Probably to do with the gear box experience being similar and so fast. And that you can't really feel the differences without pushing the cars to the limit. The sound at 8500-9000 rpm is great as well.

But to compare it to a 6.3 is not really fair. Completely different cars and you'll get 2-3 6.3 for the price of a MY2015 1.3

I think the GT4 will be a car that we can compare to the 6.3 and the 7.3.

u know it. i dont really think 991 is a CAR per se. i dont really know what it is..... it's like when i moved from hardtail to FS racing in college. the paradigm has changed. the landscape is different.

i would pull that yellow car off track. looks so nice and ad unreplaceable as 4.0 imo

if you see a white low miler one owner PRISTINE car that bob willis will not keep telling me he needs 80 hour of paint correction. lmk. incidentally bob is on my 991 and 4.0 as we speak.

absolutely.

1. it is not a car for everyone
2. it is a formidable car that need to be acknowledge for what it is. just like i dont know much or understand 70's muscle cars. but i love the way the small and look with great respect. sure, they dont turn very well... but it's not a car for that.
3. totally, the car says a lot about what it can do and not much about the driver. while the stmt is overly simplified, but the gist of it is true. at least for me, i find both are needed. now i am old, i still ride rigid mtb. picking the lines and every bone hurts aft 60 min ride. then proclaim i am a purist when we bench race in cafe and then 20 lbs of ice when i get home on my back. but most of the time, i am on 4-5" fs so i can bomb down the rocks and see if i can defy death.... but i dont find one BETTER than the other (both car and bikes). they are just different. VERY different in this case.

Mountain bike? You've got soccer ***** compared to my golf *****. I just take a bike on the road, you know thin tires and really lightweight. Freezer full of EPO.

Mooty,

Did you add a 991 GT3 to your garage? Or you are waiting for the RS?

Question - are the gear ratios between .1 to .2 the same? Mike

Yes sir. The 3.8 has more torque in the midrange and thus you don't have to be down a gear when driving it.
