Default Reading overrevs on a tuned GT3

I had the porsche dealer do a PPI on a car that I am looking at buying. The car has around 25K miles and has some cup car modifications fitted (exhaust, diff etc). The owner had the car tuned about 5 months ago...I assume a reflash?

When the porsche tech plugged in to check the DME there were no fault codes or overrevs according to him. He was quite adamant (I was there at the time). I understand Type I is quite common so I was a little surprised to hear there was nothing.

Does reflashing the DME wipe any history of overrevs?

Thanks

Not sure what the hours were but the car has 27K miles. Would you be able to calculate an approximate hour count based on the milage?

The car makes good power and has thorough service history and the tech drove the car during the PPI so I have no reason to believe there is an engine problem. I can ask the seller if he changed the ECU.

You need the printout. It will show the over rev counts AND the hours

They no longer have the car with them now as its back with the owner so no way I can get a print out. I am doubtful that the owner is going to want to drive it back down to the dealer. I guess they would have printed if there was anything of note there but it would be nice to have.

What a **** up!

Why wouldn't the PPI have had a DME printout for you?

That's a good question. I'm in Australia so the common practices for PPI might differ a little bit to the states. In the report they've only really noted issues that they've found or points of interest. Since the DME was clean I guess they didn't feel the need to write it down.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a car without a copy of the DME dump. It's just one cog in the wheel of purchasing a car that gives you the piece of mind about the health of the car.

I have emailed the head of service at the dealer to ask if there is any way I can get a copy. As I said in the OP, I was there when they did the reading and the tech's words were "nope, its clean". I specifically asked if there were any over-revs to which he replied "no".

surely the tech would know what he is looking at (you'd hope!). I would like to get a copy though, even if I do end up buying the car it would be handy for when it comes time to sell (assuming I dont do anything stupid and thus can show how caring i've been )

my 5 yo if he says i got all A's thus no report card is given...he will be sitting outside with no food until such time he can produce a straight A report card as he has claimed....

Bingo. No detailed PPI, no sale. I don't care if it's the deal of the century. Every P-car I have, I have had a through PPI done with clear expectations of the INDEPENDENT inspector of the car of my choosing that isn't the choice of the seller. The PPI will be several hours in length and include a full detailed writeup of everything including a DME printout. "Looks good" and "It's clear" as verbal repots don't cut it.

There is only 1 tech at my local dealer that I will let touch my cars. There's a reason. See Mooty's first sentence
