Default Down with bolts! Time for wheel studs

I know lots of you folks have made the move away from bolts to wheel studs.

My GT3 sees about 12 track weekends per year. Anyone know (i) what length/size do I need and (ii) are there brands I should strongly consider or avoid?

Thanks in advance!

Get the bullet nose studs from Apex, you will not regret it.

I just installed a set from Rennline on my 996 GT3. I use both OEM and O.Z. standard size wheels and as Rennline recommends, 45mm works perfectly.
They’re running 15% off Xmas sale now.

Personally, I wouldn't get 45mm studs. You have to hand start the nuts, and 45mm doesn't allow you to get them on. Rear wheels will be very difficult. When I first ordered studs years ago, I got the 65mm studs and ended up upgrading to the longer bolts. Recently I upgraded all my studs and got a set on my spec boxster and a set on the GT3 - both are the 91mm bullet nose race studs from Apex. Here is exactly what I ordered for both cars:

M14x1.5 'Bullet Nose' race stud (91mm) [x20]
14mm Porsche Race Series Lug Nuts [x20]

Note - the 91mm bolts do extend a bit, so you could get away with something a little shorter. I had the Race Series ACS Track Studs in 80mm previously, and they were great on the GT3.

Here are the 80mm Race studs: http://www.race-studs.com/servlet/th...ce-Stud/Detail

I've broken other brands, these are the best, IMHO

+1 on the bullet nose, and long. Mounting wheels is a breeze!

Here are the Rennline 45mm bullet nose studs with my O.Z. wheels. Their 45mm is the length of threaded stud from the shoulder.

whats the purpose to changing to studs other than ease of wheel mounting?

Easier to use spacers also. If you have a few different wheels of different thicknesses, then changing is also easier, as you don't have to have a separate set of bolts for each wheel set.

Thanks for the kind words!
And sorry those images don't work in the post by "himself" but we just changed hosting providers because the old one went out of business.

Here's a little gift for those of you in this thread.
Use this code when you are checking out (5MQN92NLXTY4) and we'll completely remove the shipping costs (up to $30). Shipping can be significant given that you're basically buying a box of steel.

Also we're working to improve the navigation menus on the new site. Currently it's a bit hokey.

If you were looking for the bullet nose studs and pro nuts, here you go:
