Default 04 GT3 race tire ques.

Does anyone have experience running BFG Rivals on 04 GT3 in these sizes?
F 245/40-18
R 315/30-18
Looking to do a bit of autocrossing. Car is standard GT3 height. Want to make sure there is no "rubbing".
Currently running Kumho 235/40 and 295/30 18's street rubber.
Thanks

Just put them on in same sizes and so far with 200 street miles I love them. Front rubs a little near 3/4 lock but then I only have -1.6 F camber right now. A little more should do the trick. I have a track event with them next weekend so I will update with more info after that.

What area is the front rub? Inboard? Outside?
Yes, keep me updated as I plan on ordering in a month or so.

Is there a size you ,like in Hankook Rs-3's. From what I understand they heat up a lot quicker and a much better AX tire.

YMMV

Ran them on my 6GT3 this past weekend at RRR. Lots of grip, little wear, no excessive road noise. Haven't had time to pull wheels off to check for any rubbing but none that I noticed.

send a message to loworbitsi (Aaron) I know he is going to run them for Auto-x this year but I don't know if he's actually mounted them on the car yet.

Ran the BFG Rivals in 245/40-18 and 315/30-18 on stock 996 2004 GT3 wheels in auto-x this week and here is what I have. Rears fit fine with no rub however Fronts will "touch" plastic inner fender liner at near full lock. Also rub fender lip lightly . It's probably going to be acceptable but looking back, I probably would have gone with 235's up front to be safe.

Thinking of getting these in the same size. How much camber are you running.

Can sit on that lawnchair behind your yellow 6 and just stare at car pretty much all day with a 12pack and chicken wings. You'll get rub at full lock. Nice car. Mike

TomGT3,
I have factory camber. I have not measured it but looks like .5 degrees neg at the most. With the 245/40-18 and 315/30-18 Rivals, rears fit fine but front has a slight rub on the plastic fender liner at near full lock. It's not really an issue. I did have the front touch the fender lip but that would not happen with more neg. camber. I feel the car would benefit from a smaller diameter rear because of gearing and I feel the Direzza in 285/30 would be a better choice as it's 24.8 compared to 25.5 in the 315 Rival.. I also feel the Direzza compound would be a bit better although I have no actually comparison data. Gearing is very critical in auto-x. You did not mention your intended use.
