Default Shifter ID?

Hello gentlemen!

I am hoping that I can get some help identifying what shifter I have here?

It was sold to me as a cup item with an OE short shift kit in it... I have read mixed reviews about this oe short shift kit.

I got it with the blue cup cables and want to do the install perhaps some time next week?

I guess what I am asking is would you use this shifter? or just add the cup cables to the OE shifter first?

I bought all other hardware required to make it work with the OE shifter (as per the thread on here). I didn't pay too much for the whole deal so its no big loss if this shifter turns out to be no good, just not thrilled if that is the case!

Thanks in advance

K

U will not like the short shift kit. If shifter box is a cup item should have more metal at the attachment points for/aft of shifter. If u can get the part no. somewhere here has the part no to confirm it. I take it u have original shifter box if so compare the two. Looks oem to me. Definitely not a 997 shifter box. Mike

You should do the cables first and see how it goes. It's easy to replace the shifter, so do that next and see the diff. I can't tell from the picture what you have there. But as Mike said, the short shift kit is not a good match for our boxes.

ok, thanks for the replies guys^^, appreciate it... I think I will take that approach, add the cables and go from there! IF I feel the need for a shifter then I'll look at OEM 6 Cup or 7 3 unit.

The part number on the body is 996.424.010 then there is an 04 after that, cup catalogue says it should be 996.424.010.9A for cup. So I guess I'll just sell it of locally as what it is..

I have got all the parts listed as per this post -> https://rennlist.com/forums/8118556-post21.html

as well as 996.424.395.03 shifter bridge alignment tool, I guess I best get to work on it then!

PS - have risers, Yay or Nay?

Can't use risers if u plan to put center console on but if not the risers are nice. Mike

Yay on the risers IF you can still install the center console over the shifter; you might not have a choice.

EDIT: Like Mike said.

You probably figured this out by now, but that appears to be the OEM Tequipment 996 SSK. I'm guessing it has the Tequipment triangular P on the opposite side.
