Default Cup Cables & 997 GT3 Shifter

I know it has been discussed, but i just wanted to clarfity that the 996gt3 cup shift cables will work with the 997 gt3 shifter assembly

i dont like short shift kits at all, i found the 997gt3 shifter to be a perfect throw and a bit more direct that any other shifter i have tried.

is the 996gt3 cup shifter conisidered ssk?

how does that shifter feel compared to a 997gt3 shifter?

thanks mike

From reading the forum, the Cup shifter has longer throw compared to the 997 GT3 shifter.

I was about to post to Mikymu’s relevant thread on the RIGHT way to install cup cables and what parts are really needed for a proper installation but on a second thought I decided not to.
If we solve this matter what is this forum going to talk about?

Besides you Sir should be banned from posting on shifter and gear cable threads since for the past decade you are contemplating on which version you are going to install.
Porsche will bring out the next generation GT3 soon so you should wait for it and ask “how is that shifter” “ how it compares to the older cup one”.
Me Mooty Vic and the others will be old with grey hair heavy Viagra users and all and will call you names : )

OP: if you don’t track 100 %, use the 997 shifter, cheap a bit shorter than oem 6( but not notchy) , if you track the car use cup shifter not as short but a race proven part.

For both occasions use cup cables the 6 oems are junk.

I'm going to give the 997 GT3 setup another year before I decide on changing anything. The 5 events I did on it this year were without issue and still very streetable.

Now now, I'm merely participating in this thread, which wasn't started by me...

And I do search and read all the options offered by others... I do know the parts needed (I didn't ask for part #)..

Yeah, I wish I got more spending money so I can do all these mods.. ha.. !

I know, no problem there..

Just saying that I can't afford to try out every single version of everything, like you, that's all... !! So I usually do a lot of reading and searching, before I do anything..

Well, speaking about shifters if Scott wants to loan me his 2010RS shifter I will try that as well although Mooty already did that for us.

I want a hybrid version.. 997GT3 shift stick in the Cup shifter.. so you get all the metal parts but with the 15% shorter throw.. ha!

Or the really full metal one that is made by Cantrell?!

Anyway, I will shut up now, before 911SLOW get on my case again.. I will do this mod one of these days...

I bought my Cup shifter and cables from TRG.

I paid $542.83 for the Cup Shifter.
The Cup Cables were $486.37
Shipping was $14.64
Installation was $466.33

So for $1510.17 you can upgrade to the Cup.
