How do you mount a FE on a rollbar so you can grab it in case of emergency? Especially if you're strapped in?

Is mooty a contortionist?

I'd like to have the FE & mount if it'll fit my roll bar. What diameter roll bar was this mounted on? I have the GMG bar and am not sure if it's 1.5" or 1.75".

Where on the bar did you have yours mounted?

I just don't see an effective way of mounting it. You don't have buckets and harnesses, so you can turn and unclip. However, if you were strapped in, there's no way you could get to it with that bar.

Sorry, I failed to mention that since that picture was taken the driver's seat was replaced by a Recaro Profi XL and harnesses were added.

Can't you assume that if you're mobile enough after an incident to be able to go for the FE that you'd also be able to pop open your harness latch? I guess I need to sit in the car and try it out.

If YOU are on fire, are you going to have enough time to unlatch, scramble around the car to pull the FE, and spray yourself?

Some of the clubs I run with mandate a FE. For the above reason, the driver must be able to reach it while belted in. I'd much rather run it on the roll bar than under the seat, but I can't figure out a way that I can reach it while belted.

I get what you're saying now.

There's no way I could access a floor mount FE while strapped in. If I drop anything on the floor of the car while getting ready to go out I always have to unlatch to retrieve it.

I agree with that too, but if it is under the seat, after you unlatch the FE is pretty much available on your way out.

I was wondering if it was possible to mount on the b pillar bar on the driver's side. Between the seat and door.

Good thought. I'll take a look at that as well.

I have the das, which has no diagonal bar in the main hoop.

You may be different, but I'm not sure I have the flexibility to get to that anyway.
