$5K is a lot for door stop. It will cost a ton of $ to get right again.

If I was buying a donor cadaver as a core, I'd want a 997.1 and I would be wary of "dropped valve" also meaning stress fractures just about anywhere, turned bearings, corrosion. $5K starts to sound like it had better come with all the ancillaries, wiring harness, DME, etc.

ps. Years ago, a wrecked salvage title 996 GT3 complete with straight chassis on the alignment rack, as an insurance write-off with fully operational power train, was $20K. One would have to be astute and have access to expensive resources in order to do anything cost-effective. If this engine is really only a rebuild away from being a zero hour rebuild, the seller simply has to take that plunge and make it happen, then $5K is a great number. In my humble.
