Default Question about Tequipement Harness Bar Install??

I'm about to install an OE Tequipement harness bar into my 6GT3. I've watched all the videos and read all the post on the subject which I could find and there seems to be a difference of opinion about how to do it.

Is it really necessary to cut the trim pieces along the sill/seatbelt anchor? I've been told by one shop that they never have to trim those pieces? They just get a bit crushed when the bolts are tightened. Could there be differences in MY's or Carerra vs GT3?

Second, how much trim really needs to be disassembled, especially if nothing needs to be cut? I would really like to void taking all the rear trim pieces out for fear of breaking something. In my experience, those fiddly trim pieces never go back together just right.

Thanks!

I was able to pull the carpet back enough without removing all of the trim Pieces and dermal out the necessary plastic. I also ditched the lower bolt and replaced it with a Gr 8 7/16 sae thread stud. I made the stud by using a bolt, cutting off the head and threading both ends. By doing this I didn't have the alignment problem with the lower bolt and worry about stripping out the seat belt anchor threads. I used Blue loctite on the inner thread to anchor the stud to the car.

I cut the lower piece also. Removing the rear side panels isn't necessary, thank goodness. I used the YouTube video and posted the same comments there.

Not really it took me almost a whole day trying before the light bulb sent off. Then it only took 10 min per side LOL

85, how long do the makeshift studs need to be? Aka how long of a bolt should be purchased?

I think I went 1" longer but if I did it again I would go longer. Gives more room for harness and stock seat belts.

I'm going to try this! You don't by chance have any pictures? Where would one find such a bolt?
