Thank you all for the inputs!

I don't think the Rival has as good wet grip, and from what you guys mentioned AD08 is just better than PS2, and even more so since it's cheaper. I would I wait for the AD08R to come out in the US if it weren't for my tires needing to be replaced asap(bought like this...), so AD08 it is.

Can't wait to drive with fresh tires

Next the seats and rollbar...

Okay. America's Tire said that AD08 is not available for the rear (295/30/18) because the load rating is too low, at 94 instead of OEM's 98. So, what size are you guys using for the AD08 that has the correct load rating? And why is it that TR says AD08 is comparable OEM replacement when the load rating is below the original?

I have gone to America's tire because it's really close to where I live(like <5 min city driving), and because I don't know which independent tire shop is reputable and won't give me potential headache. I am willing to go with Tirerack if someone here can recommend a good shop in Sunnyvale/San Jose area that can install the tires ordered from TR for me.

Thanks.

Yah Discount tire said the same for me so just had them shipped from TR to an installer. I have also had luck buying them from my P-Dealer and they had no issues mentioned to me about the load rating. Had same challenge when putting them on my tt.

I have my tires (track and street) mounted at Custom Alignment in Mt. View. They're a TR installer. Have'em shipped there and they'll take care of you. Good guys and they know what they're doing.

Thank you guys for the load rating info. You track rats running these 94 load rating tires with no issues is definitely a good thing to hear

Thanks mjb I will call Custom Alignment and get the order in. Can't wait

After countless PS2s on my 6-GT3 (where the got several track days/year and lots of street driving) I switched to Hankook EVO (TireRack PS2: $1556 v. Hankook $646) I second the notion that they have floppy sidewalls compared to Michelin, but I am p***ed at Michelin for not making the SuperSports in our rear size. I think that the every day behavior of the Hankook can be tolerated until Michelin wakes up.

I see the AD08R's are now shown on TireRack's website. They carry the correct size that we need for the front, but not the rear. Yokohama's website shows that the AD08R comes in both of the sizes our cars need, both front and rear.

Damon - Does TireRack plan to add the AD08R in the size we need for the rear: 295/30/18 ?

MPSS rears in 285/35/18 would be a 'no go' for the street? I currently have 315/30/18 NT01's on my track (BBS) wheels there so I'm assuming some flexibility around the OEM 295/30/18 should not be a problem. Was looking to put MPSS's on my street (OEM) wheels so wondering of someone here has done it.

hf1 - You could get away with 285's on the rear, but I find that my car has a tendency to oversteer at the limit in high speed transitions. It happens way past the point you'd ever encounter in normal road use, so if you just want tires purely for road use, then 285's should be fine. On track, 315's on the rear improve the balance, so I wonder if 285's would require other suspension adjustments to avoid excessive oversteer during track use.

BTW, I have PSS on my daily driver (which I've tracked a few times) and AD08's on my GT3 (which I drive on the street in addition to the track). I think the PSS is a much better street tire - amazingly compliant, quiet, etc. - but the AD08's are better track tires - stiffer sidewalls, they take heat very well, instant response to steering inputs, etc. Which tire is best overall depends on the mix of street/track use you have planned for them.

Edit: I just realize you asked about 285/35, not 285/30. A 285/35 would be almost an inch taller than stock, and would make the rears bigger than the fronts, which I've heard can cause problems in the 6GT3. This is a different issue from front/rear grip balance.

Looks like the AD08R is replacing the AD08.. hopefully they will come out with the whole line soon.. I didn't see the 295/30/18 for the AD08R yet.. !
