Default genuine Porsche GT3 bucket seat with carbon back.

DOES THIS COMBINATION EXIST? 996 Porsche GT3 bucket seat with carbon fiber back.

I came across 1 set of 996 GT3 bucket seats with carbon back.
The leather embossed Porsche Crest is present on the seat.

I just would like to ask if Porsche ever made carbon back 996 GT3 bucket seats.

This guy fitted these "carbon backed Porsche GT3 seats" on his M3.

Thanks.

Pretty sure that Porsche never made these carbon back 996 GT3 bucket seats.

Yep originally available from Porsche. Had them in my Zanzibar Mk1 996 GT3.

Have them in my current black Mk1 too.Technically speaking it's a carbon fibre laminate formed over the original seat shell.

For those mk1 996 GT3 seats, "RECARO" logos are embossed on the leather, right?

The carbon backed seats I mentioned earlier do not have "RECARO" on the back side.

After spending many hours online, I found this link below.

http://stuttcars.com/technical/option-codes/996/

It lists Porsche 911 996 option/build codes.
XSE Bucket seat, left
XSF Bucket seat, right

XSR Carbon back for bucket seat, right
XSS Carbon back for bucket seat, left

====
So, Porsche did offer carbon back for bucket seat.

Here are pictures of the carbon back bucket seat with Porsche Crest and without "RECARO" logo in the back. It currently has aftermarket brackets and M3 sliders. Is it possible that carbon back bucket seat does not have RECARO embossed logo?

Hi, as you're finding out, there are lots of replica seats out there, some are very convincing too. I suspect that the seats you've provided images of may be replicas too :

http://rotteccarbon.com/showcases/ca...sport-seats-2/

Certainly all the leather covered seats I've seen (be they the OE CF or the standard material the OE seats are formed from) have Recaro embossed in the leather on the back of the seat.
I suspect that no company making copies would risk using the Recaro name, firstly because I'm sure Recaro would protect their name and reputation very aggressively.
But also in the event of an unsuspecting buyer purchasing a replica seat under the impression he was buying the real thing, and subsequently having an accident in it and there being injury due to a shortcoming in the replica seats design or manufacture, the legal ramifications don't bear thinking about.

It's been an age since I've had my seats out of the car, but even though the Recaros are supplied to Porsche, I'm sure they still have Recaro stickers as shown in this thread underneath the seat shell.

Stickers :

I'll be able to get at my car on Wednesday, I'll get further detailed pictures then.

I doubt those seats are real. They're missing some key indicators.

Part no sticker and seat belt wire guides jump out at me.

This.

Also, that "leather" looks almost like vinyl the way it lays and wrinkles. I've had countless sets of these seats in my various cars and never saw that leather sag and wrinkle that way.

The earliest of these seats is now nearly 14 years old. Used regularly (especially by those of more substantial stature and girth) and without the required care and maintenance to the leather, that's exactly how the leather goes in my experience. To that end I've seen numerous cars in the UK with seats that look to be in very similar in condition to the OPs original images.

The seats for sale in this advert :

https://rennlist.com/forums/parts-ma...d-sliders.html

indicate this degradation isn't uncommon.

I don't see those the same. One set looks like fake leather that is cheap and isn't wearing properly. Further, it doesn't have any of the indicators of genuine seats. The ones in your link are just poorly taken care of and show wear but nothing like the ones in this thread. Buyer beware is all I will say. You do NOT want to risk getting a set of replicas. I personally would NEVER trust my safety in a crash to replicas.

Not going to debate this. I've offered an opinion and will leave it at that.

Nothing to debate here

I agree with all the above. Fake/replica Porsche seats just aren't worth the risk. Buy the real thing or go Recaro Pole Position/SPG, or FIA Cobra or FIA Sparco. End of.
