Post E88 size questions

Hi all

I am about to order a set of E88's from Gert and just wanted to confirm sizes before I do. Was hoping anyone with experiences here could help me decide.

Gert's recommandations are:
18 x 9 ET40
18 x 11 ET58

I am tempted to go wilder than 11" in the rear but concern about rubbing.
Currently running NT-01 245 & 315

Also Gert claim the stock bolts will fit but remember seeing somewhere that the longer ones are needed for these wheels. Could anyone confirm?

TIA

I used to run 275s on a 18x9 on my m3.. I don't think you need to go any wider than 18x11

I hear 9s and 12s are faster. If you're doing 315 in the rear, 12 is fine. I'm sure you can search the forum for the proper offset.

Offset is just as important as width. Theoretically, You can have a 13" wheel with less track than a 11" in the proper offset.

A 315 tire is a 315 tire. As long as it isn't stretched or bulging than who cares what the width is. Plus wider wheels = more metal = more weight.

if you have to pay, i would get 9" 12"
however, i do not know what offset needed. i ran 12" and 9.5" CCW with custom offset works fine.

summary, u want 12" rear. just make sure someone gives you the right offset. PM NJ-GT. no one knows offset better than he does.

Thanks Mooty, I will try to shoot NJ-GT a pm and hope to hear some inputs from him. I would like to run 12" but just want to make sure that I am going to have excessive rubbing on the track....

FWIW, I run 12x19 ET 67 rears on my GT3 with 305/30 tyres (that's the same wheel as the 997.1 GT3). There's maybe 8mm clearance tyre to arch & I had to trim the lower rear arch liner on the inside to prevent rubbing. I don't think you will have enough clearance to play with if you fit a 315 section tyre to a 12" rim unless you do some serious arch rolling & maybe not even then. No harm in using an 11" rim with a 315 section tyre.

I have in my notes that Rad said:
"
Front: ET33
Rear: ET63

If I were to do it again,

Front: ET30
Rear: ET58"

This was for 10s and 12s though, I think, and one probably needs lots of negative front camber and rolled rear fenders. Others will hopefully chime in.

Note: The above info came from an old post that I now can't find using the search function on this website, is there something wrong with search?

12" rear is not big deal. OCCASIONALLY you may rub, not much. and my car sits very very low.

9" front is easy too.
i did 9.5" th at's tough, i had to roll and pull and i have over 3 deg of neg camber.
rad did 10", but unless you really roll and pull, i dont think it fits.
it's not just the outside lip, you have to deal with spring too. my inner lip is very close to front spring.

E88s need longer bolts. I think I measured my BBs wheels at 32 mm thick. My bolts are 82 mm tip to tip.

If you are going to ever use MPSC, the 12" rear might be a disadvantage, otherwise I'd go for it. I have rears 11"-12" with different sets and all fit.

This is what NJ-GT suggested:
12" rear on stock offset minus 1/4" (ET57). 9" ET40 front. and I think this is the size I am most likely to to with now.
I have no plans for MPSC as I am pretty happy with the Nitto's right now......But really appreciate the tips Chuck.
Any suggestions on the bolt size and where to get them?

Thanks again!

no suggestion on bolts, but you can run studs.
apex is sponsor here, they sell studs of different length.

Almost, I'm filing in May. I did learn to do my homework. I would do ncrc, but I think I'll still be writing the final sentences that weekend (and I think the run groups are full now anyway). I will start appearing as a moving chicane very soon though
