Default Excellence Mag Buyers guide on GT3

I've got a 02 C4S that's lots of fun. I've been on the track a couple of times and really enjoyed it. I'm starting to consider an upgrade to something more robust, such as a 04/05 GT3. I got a copy of the excellence mag 2012 buyers guide. They show the 2004 as $40-$52k and the 05 $44-58k.

Are these realistic? The GT3's are not plentiful but the prices that I'm seeing seem above the top end of these price scales. Of course published prices are generally higher than the sold price but I'd be happy to pay $45k for a clean 04.

Thanks

Martin

45k is kinda low. At 45k it's a very high miler(I don't mind that) but at 45k it's the storied ones I would worry about. Mike

If you want a clean unmolested no stories 996GT3, it will cost you squarly in the $50s. There is a ton of research here that proves this out.

I've seen good cars for 35 and bad ones for 55...

The 996 GT3 market changes more quickly than your wife changes clothes...It may be a different story in 6 months...right now you need at least 50k to get a good GT3. Demand is high and supply is low.

It's 10k off. Not 40-52. It's more like 50-62 with the sub 40s rode harder than a 2 dollar hooker.

Perhaps the market was different in 2012 or excellence put an intern on pricing. The supply does seem to be pretty slim.

I bought mine in 2012 and those ranges Dell quoted are what I experienced then and what I've seen over the last 12 months. It hasn't changed. Pretty much what Dell said is what I experienced.

The 996 GT3s are more in demand than ever - they're pretty special - so expect a good example to bit difficult to find and will cost you more. I bought mine 6 months ago and it was a high mileage GT3, which is what I wanted because I had a price ceiling. Most people garage keep the cars and dont drive them a lot so a high mileage example is even harder to find, especially one in good condition.

Like you, I went from an '02 C4S to a '05 GT3 because I became addicted to track days. Do it. You won't be sorry. The 996 GT3 is amazing.
