Does anyone know the history of this car?
Now that I've decided I still want a proper manual and not PDK, I'm looking at 6GT3, 7.1GT3 or 7.2GT3. ...and came across this one:
2004 GT3
Does anyone know the history of the car? Called and was told it's bought from owner and not a trade-in..
Thanks,
Jon

My advice to anyone buying a Porsche GT anything, invest 400 bucks and get a paint meter, then meter the car you want to buy, and confirm that it indeed was not crashed.
After the stunt pulled by a dealer that even managed to CPO a painted car, I have not bought another car without my paint meter.

Something's fishy about that car's history. Googling it's VIN yields the following:

which leads to this...

Owner back in 9/2004 says it has had "cosmetic damage". Also listed it as red exterior color. Another poster posts:
"lol, ignition needs to be replaced (stolen), will ship it further than 75 miles for FREE, interior is messed up (signs of theft), and gt3s sticker for about 200 grand. So i would think that this guy is bull****ting or he stole it"
The owner also created a fake account to validate his sale:

Wow you're right Damage. I didn't think of googling that VIN, figured in most cases that won't turn up anything. Thanks a lot for posting that.
Guess I'm continuing my search again..

Just did a search for the paint code as shown on the door jamb. L12H seems to match the color of the car, which is Speed Yellow? Hmm...
Seems to have had 5 previous owners too...

Check out Millenia Motors in Longwood FLA for a grey 2004 GT3 with 18K miles. Speak to Oliver. I just sold the car to them and I know it's absolutely pristine with no stories. I bought it CPO from Santa Barbara Porsche. It was owned by a finance guy that put 6ooo miles on it in 4 years and I put 12000 in the 4.5 years. Good luck with your search.

If I recall correctly, a Porsche dealer indicated that as long as no more than 2 panels are painted, the car can still be CPO. I didn't confirm as I was looking for a "no stories" car. I think it said that on the checklist I have for my Porsche Approved paperwork but I'd have to check.
