Haha, what's a family guy to do right?

If you don't want auto tragic, your selection is getting smaller by the day. CTSV Wagon manual is nice, but the mrs hates driving it because it's an enormous car.

As for the M3, BMW is doing something wrong when I like my current E46 M3 way more than my custom spec'ed E90 M3. I hate light clutches, and while torqueless motors are OK in light cars, they absolutely do not work in a 3700 pound small sedan called the E90 M3.

Anyway, that Smith Volvo one looks nice, but 66K is like 10K over market isn't it? Especially given that it has the same mile as that silver one in Kentucky P dealership that is asking 59999 and will let it go for less.

The Smith GT3 is nice. If it's as nice in person as in the pics and a PPI doesnt produce any hidden leaks or issues or neglected service, it may command at least a $60K offer.
remember, it is a dealer. they are looking to profit. If this sits for a long time, then they may bite at a much lower offer. ($50-55K)

6GT3's in very good condition are getting rare.

Ref CPO, I have seen where a dealer advertises a car, but it's actually on consignment, so I don't know if the Smith car actually has a CPO or they're blowing smoke...
would be good to find out.
time to go play the Powerball....

The smith one looks like the parcel carpet had been cut for a roll bar at one ppint in time.

What should a 996 GT3 in excellent condition in the 20k mile range with good DME #s go for? I'm starting to see more and more dealers asking above $60k now even though they were in the low to mid $50k's last year.

That Smith one is insanely overpriced. The stickers, crappy white carbon on the inside, the scuffed up pieces, the cut carpet, and the miles, make that a mid 50's car at a dealer and maybe less private party. Personally, I'd prefer to buy these cars from an individual with a documented history which you know the dealer doesn't have. And for them to say NO TRACK TIME is just a flat out lie. There is NO WAY they would know that. And as far as the CPO, again, not possible.

It looks like the carfax has goofed on the # of owners. Looks like it should be 3?

These cars are now pushing 10 years old and the best way to buy these is from somebody who has taken care of it properly and documented the history. They are great cars but can break the bank is you get a turd and have to pour more money into it.

There's on entry in there indicating the engine was removed for work. I wonder what that was for.

I'd call the dealer that performed the service. Could be RMS, Clutch, Diff, Coolant Pipes, etc, etc, etc. There are many services that call for the engine to be removed or lowered.

Is it just me or does the Smith car have Joe T's splitter on it?

best advice for gt3 shopping is to wait. The members here have a lot of good cars stashed away. They change hands every now and then.

Did I hear someone calling my name?

Yes, I do have a 2005 Guards GT3. 11.7k miles on it.

I just don't drive it enough and considered selling it a while ago, but each time I get in and just go for a drive, I decide not to. It's just that good of a car.

However, I think the time has come as the car really should be in the hands of someone who will use it more.

So yes, I will part with it if this is what you are looking for.

Default 996 GT3 - the next E30 M3

I couldn't come up with a better analogy. With the announcement of the 991 GT3, these are going to go up a lot in the next couple of years IMO. The 997 RS versions as well. Maybe I'm just stating the obvious. I am holding on to my red GT3 with only 4k miles. When it gets to its original sticker price is only when I will consider selling it.
