This is what prev owner had done to the car (a 996 C2) I just bought.

My plan is to take it a little further and remove the interior latch handle / pull and replace with fabric straps and then cover with a lightweight corrugated plastic sheet to "hide" everything.
Interestingly, I'm thinking of removing the glass altogether but need to come up with a plan for closing things up for transport (open trailer ...)

Thanks for the pic!
Congrats on the purchase... you should post your new ride in separate thread.
Door still looks "busy" and hefty without the door panels. Do you feel enough weight was lost without them to be left with all that we see in the picture?
Besides the door pulls, can you trim out some of the sheetmetal ?

David, take a look at this:
http://www.cargraphic-ts.com/index.p...esolution=1024
I wish there's a cheaper alternative, but I think this would be exactly what you are looking for!

gutting door with window in it would be STUPID. really stupid.
crash, glass inside of you body. you will feel smart real smart
you either gut it or dont. half *** car builds are dumb.
cage it, cf door and be with it.
the rest are for wusses.
my stripped 6gt3.
this is oem door gutted, painted. there's a closure plate on top that's not installed yet.
6 months after that, i had OEM cup door installed.. MUCH MUCH lighter

oem door is bolt anchor.
the door you see above is at least 20 lbs lighter, maybe more. i didn't weigh it.
the CF door is another 20 lbs lighter than what i had.

Stock oem doors with windows plus everything else is 75 lbs per door. Gutting like mooty's is 45 lbs. If he cut out that reinforcement bar(not needed nemore since his stripper is fully caged those bars weigh 7 lbs each).Getty fg doors weigh nothing ie less then 10 pounds each- I could lift with my pinky finger but u need a full cage. One could convince this company to make the panels if they don't already. They'd be a lot cheaper than Cargraphic.
