I did not want to drill several holes in the cf roof so I used a combination of the 3M tape and fabricated 4 aluminium strips to anchor from the roof rack support holes.
I used this tape to install the rear and side polycarbonate windows without drill one hole. The tape is excellent an is being used to replace fasteners in new car manufacturing.

The 50+ pounds (sunroof) over my head was more of my concern. It is spot welded in place. After I lightened the car by 127 pounds (with cf hood and glass removal) I was able to shave off 4 seconds off my best time at a track. I did not noticed and rigidity issues.

I thought 3M made carbon-fiber specific epoxy for this type install - bonds CF to metal...I am no expert...I'm sure that tape is strong but I don't know how long it will last.
Did you consider the epoxy route?

No I did not. I have experience with this tape and I not a big fan of epoxy and glues. Way to messy.
This tape replaces metal fasteners and welding. It is good stuff. http://www.uline.com/BL_6104/3M-5962...ylic-Foam-Tape

Love the ram air. On the list.
Use the 3m 5962 tape. Used it to install a cf roof and it is working great.

It is interesting. I know Aston Martin uses adhesives for assembly. Back to the air scoop, I don't see that anyone has posted a part number or price for the factory part. How expensive is it?

I ordered a scoop from MA Shaw. The design is slightly different from the FVD unit; the side pieces that extend toward the front of the car are a bit longer. The curvature appears to be a very close match to the deck lid contour, but the finish is just a bit wavy. I dropped it off at a body shop to block and sand it in preparation for painting. I'll post some pics of the finished installation.
BTW, I bought some 3M automotive tape from custom car grills. I believe it's the same product linked earlier, but this is a much smaller roll, more suitable for a small job like an air scoop.

If anyone needs an air scoop, I've got one in the garage I bought before I remembered I have the Cup rear deck lid on the car which has a scoop moulded in already. $75. Let me know.

On a non-sunroof car, my DP Motorsport CF roof saved about 13lb over the steel roof. Mine was bonded on using epoxy designed to bond CF to steel. The roof contributes nothing to the structural rigidity of the body, but I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you have at least a half cage - mine has a full cage. A roll probably won't see the roof intact afterwards...
