OK, just spent 30 min doing a search, no luck. I'm upgrading my seat and can no longer use the inboard lap belt attachment that was part of the seat bracket on the old set-up (not allowed in PCA club racing anyway). I need to anchor the tunnel-side belts to an eye-bolt placed on the side of the tunnel. The car is stripped. Anyone able to shoot me a pic where they have their inboard belts anchored? Mike? Mooty?

Appreciate your help! Still hoping to get a pic of eyebolt drilling spot, as I don't have time to do the welding. Maybe over the winter.

I know it's not ideal, but I prefer to have the sub bar mounted to the rails in order to move with the seat, as I am on the short side and need to move the seat forwards, but find it much easier to exit over the cage side rails with the seat moved back. A fixed anchor substrap would be a pain.

I have seen 996 GT3 tubs with a hole to mount an eyebolt on teh tunnel, but since you are stripped and can't find one, you can use the BK inboard mount

Question with install of eyebolt to tunnel side. Are u able to screw a nut on other side of tunnel from underneath of car? I think u need backing plates as well. Mike

The BK piece was my first choice, but I was advised against it, as it is really just another way to anchor the belt to the seat/rail assembly. In all honesty, if the seat tears away from the tub in a crash, I think I'll have more serious things to worry about than where my belts are anchored.

The Schroth eyebolt kit I plan to use has a 3" washer that goes behind the sheet metal. Not welded, but distributes force over a large area. The bolt is secured by a nut placed from underside of tub.

There are some pics in a thread on Cup Cars forum posted by SpeedGT3 in April 2010 which I can't figure out how to post here. I'll be glad to email them to anyone for posting. Amongst the gallery, one pic shows the car interior before mods by GMG. The street/DE/racing GT3 had eyebolts for the lap and sub belts. The outboard lap bolts look like they are at the factory location and the inboard are on the tunnel. Note the sub-belt eyebolts are located too far to the rear; per Schroth's installation instructions the 6 point sub-belts should be directly below or 20 deg back from the groin.

The second pic is after the racing mods and it appears GMG kept the same eyebolts.

It would be interesting to know how these eyebolts were installed.

For conservatism I would suggest a larger backing plate for the Schroth plate with nut to work against, since some of the body sheetmetal isn't too thick.

This weekend I had the opportunity to inspect a number of 996 cars at the Club Race at Summit Point, so now I have a good idea as to where to place the eyes. I agree with Dave C2, those sub-belt eyes are way too far back.

if stripped, you put eye bolt through tunnel with big backing plate. that's how cups are done too

Ken, after checking out the 996 race cars, have you decided how to install the sub-belt eyebolts or bolting point?
I'm thinking about welding some brackets to the floor, although drilling through the floor might also work.
TIA for any other suggestions.
