Well u can cut the cat cans off and weld a pipe to it. But don't think u have problems just by gutting them. Mike

I'll try gutting them based upon the advice from Moroso.

Cutting the cat out is not really all that easy. You would have to fix the cat section to a plate so all points are fixed and referenced. Then you could cut out the cat. Next a formed pipe could be inserted and welded, a straight pipe won't work.

Any method short of this will likely result in movement of the end bolt flanges and make install a PIA.

I'll take some pics Monday. There must be a lot of us with OEM cat's still out there who may have lost some performance and not noticed it yet.

My experience with an exhaust shop was different, but I understand where you are going.

Can't wait to see pics, and, it'll be stealthy! For state inspections here, the inspector is required to look for cats; most don't though; they just plug in with OBD2 and look for codes.

That part will be interesting. If a flash gets rid of the code (I'm told there is one available) that would be nice.

If not I will have to put on the good cats I have saved.

At that time I will probably revisit the intelligence of registering, paying taxes, insurance etc and having a smog check. I do all that so I can run a few hundred miles a year on the street. If that. Crazy expensive miles.
