Default opinions please

I am contemplating to either get a 996 gt2 or gt3. I want to know which one is better, more reliable, and more comfortable to drive. I know I know I said comfortable and most of you will say "why does he want those and not a turbo or carrera?" the thing is, these cars will be track/weekend babies. I have driven a 997c2s, 986/7 boxster, and a 993c4s/gt2. The 993 gt2 is what made me fall in love with the gt2. It was so badass! But I'm afraid of boost, not that it scares me but the reliability of it. So back to the point, I'd love your opinions on what's better for both highway/weekend driving and track driving, reliability, fun, and handling. Thanks.

Other than the significant cost difference between a 996 GT2 and 996 GT3, I'd say the GT3 is more than adequate to fulfill the pleasures. Have you driven a 996 GT2?

No I haven't. I've only driven the ones I've listed above.

I haven't either yet but I've heard they are beasts. A friend of my brothers sold his McQueen 911 a few years back and bought a 996 GT2 with some of the money. He describes driving it as "Scary".

I like the gt3 more as a overall car but the looks and power of the gt2 catch my eye more and not to mention, I find the wing on the 996.2 gt3 ugly. I'd rather have the taco one from the 996.1

I am less worried about track performance and more worried about street cred. When shopping for my 1st Porsche I didnt even consider the GT3. The GT2 is the only Porsche I wanted. The CGT was on my list as well but I wanted somewhere to sleeep as well as a car to drive.

GT2 for the street, GT3 for the track. Both are great. If lots of track then it is easy GT3. 2-3 track days per year and lots of street, get the GT2.

Drive both and decide. There is no right answer - it's all personal preference.

What about the reliability of the cars? Do they have problems long term?

GT2 is a track beast. Maybe more challenging to drive well too.
