My 996TT was converted to GT2 specs in every aspect, to include full functioning OEM factory Aero front and rear, but with the except the suspension uprights. It was a great car. It also was squeezed in the form of upgraded turbos/software/engine management/fuel/hardware. I have no doubt that a boosted car will cause more stress on the motor. I also have no doubt, and considerable experience in the cost to repair and upgrade these cars. GT3s reduce that concern and cost in several areas.

Knowing what I do now, I'd never go back.

Mike, thank you very much. I see that you currently own a gt3. How do you like it compared to your old TT?

There's clearly no right answer. My opinion: If you already love boost or want to do engine mods, get the GT2. Otherwise, avoid the extra hoses, piping, intercoolers, hot turbos, mod bug, and extra cooldown lap with the GT3.

Out of the box handling on my GT3 is better than any stock 996TT I've driven. The GT3 is light, nimble, telepathic to drive fast. I love it, so much so, that I feel kinda like I should have done this instead of the 996TT 5 years ago... Kinda feel like I lost time messing around with a modded heavy turbo.

+1! (And welcome to the dark side Mike!)

To the OP - drive both, and see what you think...

Thanks Blake! I drive the car very hard when I drive it away from red roads, and today was no exception... 2nd-4th in redline and making the car work hard on curvey roads really makes you appreciate it.

I do NOT miss the lack of HP. The total package just works so well.
