Default Done the deal

Tomorrow my 2003 GT3 arrives. Lapis Blue, mint condition with a staggering 38000 k's on the clock. Not so much as a stone chip. Totally stock car with no stories.

I have a question, and sorry if it sounds like I am a bit slow. But are you able to check the oil with a dip stick like any normal car?

I see there are loads of upgrades for these cars, and way more options than I had with the 993TT. For instance, Fabspeed say that there air induction system offers amost as much horsepower improvement as a stock Skoda. How much BS is that?

I am very excited about tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing a GT3 at 8K RPM!

That's interesting. All I know is it's an 03. but maybe the ROW cars were released at different times.

I believe in Europe, the model years work differently than the US.

Like how the 2013 mustang came out already.. In Europe, that would be called a 2012.

There is a dip stick inside the oil filler tube.

The Mk1 GT3 was available in Europe starting 1999, the US did not get a GT3 until 2004.

Congrats on the new arrival! Check out the must read sticky.

Any air intake/filter system that requires the removal of the (stock) intake box which separates hot and cold air and which enables the ram air effect will lose you HP. I've seen the dyno results first hand.

Thank goodness for that. I was sure I read some where that you can't check the oil as it was all done electronically. I thought I was being silly.
Sweet.

I thought as much. Hard to see how these companies can make those claims. It's probably why Fabspped haven't replied to my email from a few days ago, but that's normal anyway.
I'm leaving it stock.

"SOME" of these companies have one goal in mind... Separating customers from their cash... So they make outlandish claims.

There is a lot of knowledge and experience here. Although I knew a fair amount about my 996TT, I'm learning so much more about the MKII GT3s... Reading that sticky at the top all the way through will save you a lot of time. Sure has for me.

There's not much u can do to an na motor whether its a chip exhaust intake etc as it yields very little hp gains. I wouldn't do any chip or intake esp an open air element type- u need a ram air affect type which the stock one is the best so far. Maybe a bmc filter is about it and even that I like the stock one better - it's probably cheaper and just as affective as the preoiled bmc which if that expires I'm not going clean and oil it myself and risk a chance of killing the maf. Exhaust- I'm only looking at its decent sounding and Lw. Fabspeed has a good price point and it's liter then stock(25-30 lbs liter)ill give it that. Just want to make sure it doesn't lose power ie those muff bypass or similar(loss of low end trq doing street duty and it's way too loud- nose bleed loud). Good mods are aftermarket rear toe links to prevent unwanted toe changes which require frequent alignment, a good LSD ie guard or cup internals. If u got de's invest in safety equipment like euro fixed back seats half rollcage and harnesses and a Hans or similar head restraint system. Change to good brake pads like rs 19/29's all the way around(some like more rear bias so u could put rs14's in the rear- I have rs19's all the way around)-never had issues in that combo.
Change to a nice brake fluid like castrol srf. Stick with street tires 1st before going the rcomp route- definitely more grip but it can snap on you since its fairly quiet at its limit- street tires squeals bigtime at its limit. Everything later on as far as mods are luxuries catering toward track and it's endless : (. Mike
