Question Obsessing over the car not being set up right

Hello everyone,

I'm semi new to the Porsche world and decided to go all out and go straight for a 6GT3. I'm used to all wheel drive turbo cars so this is definitely a new realm for me.

I had a 2006 Subaru Impreza STI (the love of my life, wish i still had her) that I traded in for a 997 S, which was terrible IMO (Only had the car for 9 days). Got rid of the S and bought an N54 135i, also crap. Then decided to calm down a bit and bought a N55 535i, got bored and bought the 6GT3. All in a matter of less than a year.

Upon purchasing the car, i immediately replaced all 4 tires and front pads with pagid factory. Went from Yokohama AD48(they were down to the wire) to Yoko AD08 as I won't really be tracking the car. The front Yoko AD48 were a 225 tire. I decided to go OE with the 235 AD08. For some reason it seems like im rubbing and that the 235 doesn't fit in the wheel well, although, it's still drivable. I measured the height of the car and it seems to be stock. Had the car aligned twice and now im obsessing that it's not set up right. When I go for a drive the rear of the car smells like burning rubber, specifically coming out from under the wheel wells, is it because the alignment is way off and the tires are scraping the road? Here is the printout and pics of the car for your enjoyment:

Caster is high. Wheels pushed more forward so it'll rub. Great on track with that caster reading though. Looking at rear camber so one side is - 2.5 and other is -3.1- is there a reason it's set up that way? Mike

That's just how they aligned it. It's making me crazy because I can feel like the car is off.

This is how the car looks as of this afternoon:

I'm looking at this from a track perspective maybe street as well. Your camber both front/rear to much of a spread. Track u need more camber then rear. If street u need less camber in rear plus they should be equal camber not 2.5/3.1. U must some shims in front to get that kinda caster. Kussmaul settings would work as dual purpose(check archives). Sounds good thanks for the info. If I take the Kussmaul specs to say any alignment shop would they be confused or is it idiot proof to reach those settings?

Do yourself a favor and go here.....

http://www.werks2.com/about-us/show-room/

WERKS II Motorsports

Tell them how you use the car and have the cars ride height/corner balanced and aligned at the same time.

Your toe looks fine, so I don't know why you're getting a rubber smell. Caster is fine too.

You are running too much rear camber. Typical track set-up is -2.5 f / -2.2 r. If you're not tracking the car, I would go -2 front / -1.5 rear camber.

Thanks for the info Serge. I drive aggressively on the street with occasional canyon drives. What would be optimal?

great responses to your post. I'm with 996FLT6 on your front R-L and rear R-L camber settings... Will you be running a counterclockwise baked-oval track??? They should be the same at the front, and same at the rear!

If you need to Kussumaul settings, I have a PDF that I downloaded from board (I am a GT3 hoarder). Send me a PM with your email and I can forward it. It shows both stock and Kussamail settings...

Good luck,
-B

Is that your vin number on alignment sheet. U should block it out. Some scammer will use your vin and your pics to sell to some unsuspecting consumer. Mike

Been running AD08 for years on the street and track. Front camber should be -2.6 and rear camber -2.0. My 6GT3 is extremely lowered and have no rubbing issues.

+1 for letting Werks II setup the car. Galen is great to work with. I've driven two other stock setup GT3's in the last week and was shocked at the difference between theirs and mine. A proper setup makes all the difference in the world.

I won't really be tracking the car anytime soon, will i see too much tire wear in the front with that camber driving on the streets? It's my DD and don't want to tear through tires...
