Default New to the porsche world

I just wanted to introduce myself. I just bought a 05 SY 996 GT3. which should be delivered tomorrow. Car is clean I did an ecu dump before buying. my previous toys were 2 Elises and a Exige. I'm excited about having handling and power versus just handling.

The car does have a roll cage which I'm told is not oem. I'm hoping you guys might be able to help identify the brand. In anticipation I've also bought smoked side markers and fab speed muffler bypass.

I'm not looking to hold onto the car for long before getting into a 997 but in the short time I'm going to own it what other mods do you recommend I do? Is there an aftermarket end plate for the wing?

Thanks
Kevin

I'll have pics soon once delivery is taken. It is running the stock wing just like the one in your pic. Where would I go to get a rs wing? The car is also equipped with the oem race seats and harnesses.

I have the RS wing (carbon fiber), which I bought several years ago for $2K. Last I saw, they are going for $7-8K!! If you're not thinking of keeping it, why spend the $?

Just drive an enjoy. The car doesn't need anything. It's a pretty good package from the factory.

It's easy to get carried away, ask me how I know?

Yup it comes with stock mufflers. I've read that the bypass is a novelty item. I had my first lotus decatted and it was incredibly loud. I figure this isn't gonna be too bad.

I don't mind spending the money because I'll return it to stock and sell the parts.

You guys have any tips for me driving wise? Anything I should becareful with? I understand this car has no traction control which my exige didn't have either.

Join your local PCA and go to a DE or two. The Porsche guys will help you with the dynamics of a rear-engined car... just different, not scary.

Only advice driving-wise, is be respectful, smooth, and gradual in your approach. Learn to drive the car, and it will reward you tremendously.

Ahh I'm familiar with lift. It was a huge issue with the lotus but that can be used to your advantage

Good I'm glad to hear it. Not that I had any issues with the lotus. I would love to own both.
