DIY-LCA caster plug and monoball removal
To chisel/pound the monoball out is not easy. I tried in one of the old LCA. I went sleepless and tried to find a solution. Here is what I came up.
Tools:
2 legged puller
Ratchet and sockets
Penetratiing oil
Vise
Pic 1. Secure the LCA and use the puller to force the bushing down until it has about 5mm clearance.
Pic 2. Now you can pull the bushing out, you will need a long bolt to counter the force.
Pic 3. Now one of the bushing is out and you can work on other side.
Pic4. Find a socket about the same diameter as the housing and push the bushing out with the puller.
Pic5. If you dont want to damage the LCA (maybe). Move the puller legs to the bottom of the LCA.
Pic 6. They are out without damage:-)
Caster Removal
Pic1 & 2. Find an plug/cap or something that you can press with. Get the diameter as close as the caster plug as possible. I used a 1 1/4 Stainless plug. Secure the LCA and press caster plug out...easy.
Make you you spray penetrating oil in all seams and let it sit for 15 minutes before attempt push them out.

Thank you, that is beautiful stuff.
I had this planned for tomorrow, and has been looking for some pointers for a while so this was great timing.
I do have a press though, so it should be fairly straightforward then.
