Time to get that fishing boat. Kids almost old enough. That suit is a bunch of bs IMHO.

Well that is where the Turbo owner failed. He filed a "track" claim with a "street" policy. Further, he asked Alan if he was going to pay for the Turbo. That's BS. You are responsible for your own car on track regardless of the situation. If they pay him they are going to do WHATEVER they can to collect from somebody else and he knows that. THere is no way the responsible party is Alan (or even the car that dropped the coolant).

What if the turbo driver had been seriously hurt, or worse? C2S driver responsible for that too? $19k is chump change compared to potential med bills...

Exactly. How is Alan responsible for property, injury, etc., for his involvement here? I am really starting to rethink the DE hobby.

How bizarre its this? In the sense that if nobody put in a claim on their street insurance most of this stuff would disappear. So lack of street insurance turns out to actually be a good thing. Go figure.
Guess it would be a wise thing to pull out a copy of that waiver we all sign and actually READ IT.

Time for an update on the OVR October Mid-Ohio crash. I may start a thread in the DE/Track section if anyone is interested.

My insurance company declined to cover me. I had not entered a claim for my C2S and paid for it out of pocket. I had to file a claim as a first step for the other guy's company.

My company sent a notice to the turbo owner's insurance company telling them they would not cover their clients car.

I was then told by the turbo owner's insurance company that they wanted me to pay $19000 or setup up a payment schedule. I called and told them I didn't plan on doing either. I ended the conversation by telling them my attorney would contact them.

Today my attorney is sending a letter to them in my defense. He also sent a letter to PCA legal.

My insurance agent also contacted the turbo owner's insurance carrier for additional information on their coverage. Who knows there may be a company out there that accepts FULL liability for driving on track.

I'm now once again in a holding pattern.

Alan, reading this makes me nauseous. You are as much a victim in this as the Turbo owner, or anyone else for that matter.

Thanks for the update and good luck.

In certain DE orgs- people has abit of sense that there are risks involved and there's a gentlemen's approach to it but it really makes me rethink all that because u just know the what the other guy is thinking. That's scary. Wish it wasnt that way. Mike

Agree with the above. It's getting kind of scary. The former "Gentleman's agreement" seems to mean nothing nowadays. Part of the problem is that 20% or more of the Porsches on track cost over $100K

the turbo owner should have simply paid out of pocket.
i dont understand why ppl file these kind of claims to insurance company.
if he wanted insurance, he should have had track specific insurance.

i think i need to revert back to concourse and coffee/brunch gig.
