245 / 35 18" front tire
Hi
Can I run a 245 / 35 18" front tire instead of the original 235 / 40?
The wheel arches are not widened, body of the car is stock.
I'm using standart wheels (8.5 x 18").
There is a cheap set of Kumho semislicks in 245 / 35 front and 285 / 30 18", but I'm not sure if this size of front wheels will work on my 996 MK2 GT3.
Thanks

They will work just fine, the diameter is the same front and rear so no ABS issues. We ran the 245/285 combo, Hoosiers mostly, for 3 years in SCCA Autox including winning the National Championship in 07.

Just a note. My 245/40 Nittos wore out my wheel well liner. No big deal but I had to replace mine.
Oh, and make sure your fenders have been rolled.

Your initial question about 245s fitting is more complex than you know. Whose 245s make a huge differance. Go to TIRE RACK website and look up your exact stock tire and click on SPECS. Look at all the good info on rolling diameter, tread width, section width, revolutions per mile. Then Click on the tires you want to buy and check click SPECS again. You can see the dimentions vs. OEM. Posters who are giving you information are talking of Nittos, and Hoosiers. Kummos will be slightly different.

Running 9 degrees of caster, -2.5 degrees camber and Nitto NT-01 245/40s on 9" 46mm offset wheels, I get MINOR non-audible rubbing. As in, I can never hear it, but there is a light mark on my fender liner.

What do liners do? I've been thinking of removing them unless it's there for a good reason. Are u on stock suspension? If so always thought to optimize full advantage of slicks- Motons or the like is needed? Regards. Mike

I would imagine that apart from protecting the inside of the fender against stone rash, water ingress, etc., the liners should get a smoother flow of air around the wheel.

i was told otherwise dont need them..when mine go im leaving them out....runing -2 in front
The operative word is slightly different. V710 245/35 and 285/30 18 are 24.8 diameter Hoosier R6 245/35 285/30 18 are 24.7 and 24.9 diameter, this is not an issue for ABS. I have extensive experience with both Hoosier and Kumho in those sizes. .
